Can't open boot...

My car had been parked up since the MOT ran out in March last year. Needed to get it back on the road a couple of weeks ago due to other daily going on strike. Ibiza now MOTed! Everything worked before but now the boot won't open. When i unlock it i can hear something moving in the door but when i pull the handle there is no resistance at all like get when it's locked. My previous Ibiza had the stiff handle issue and that was fixed by removing the lock and then the pin. A quick rub down with wet and dry and some copper grease and it was sorted. To make matters worse THIS one has extra woofter speakers fitted in the sides of the boot meaning i can't see the door panel fixings, or do you just pull it off?
It's been that long since i've messed with a boot lid i can't remember. My guess is that the mechanism is a bit stiff and isn't moving just enough to unlock. Or it's totally mullered! I've turned the key both ways and locked and unlocked again using the fob but it still won't open.
Anybody got any ideas?
If i have to, i'm open to using brute force and ignorance regarding removing the door panel...

It seems that the power of this forum IS IMMENSE!
Within half an hour of posting my question i drove to Halfrauds to pick up some concentrated screen wash.(In stock according to the website)
Of course they only had the mixed...
BUT, when i walked back to the car i tried the boot and it unlocked!
I then drove to Sainsbury's meaning to leve the car unlocked so i could remove the screws that hold the inner panel in place and forgot and locked it.
Went shopping, came back and it unlocked again YAAAAAAAAY!
Got home, unloaded the shopping. Locked it and unlocked it and it would seem the lock is now playing ball and doing what is asked of it.
There are two screws holding the panel in place. They are inside the little panels you pull off to access the bulbs.
Being able to open the boot will make changing a rear shock a lot easier.

Are Sachs rear shocks still available?
