Central Locking Problems

96 Toledo tdi sxe. Just recently my central locking has started to play up: ie. when the car is locked my windows go up and down on there own!!! Now and again when using the key in the drivers door it will only lift the lock on this door and leave the rest locked. It works fine if using the key in the passenger door. Some times it will lock and unlocks itself. even vacuming the locks down so that they are impossible to unlock.
Has anyone got any suggestions as where to start looking for the problem.?

Did you fix it or know what the problem was because mines doing the vacuming the locks down part (not the window prob though) making it near on impossible to open. I've just replaced the drivers door solenoid & it was still the same! £30 down the spout never mind. Seriously though if you know or could offer any advice please!

Did my head right in. Even took it to the local Seat dealer, who said the couldnt diagnose the fault as the car was too old (1996)[:@]
They tried changing the door handle, still the same.
They said it could possibly be the ECU which was going to work out around £500 with no guarantee.
Reluctantly I sold my trusted Toledo. I would still have it today if it hadnt been for the fault.
Sorry cant be much more of a help

Cheers for that RubyMurry. Replaced lock mechanism (latch on side of door not handle or barrel) & solenoid in drivers door to no avail. May try an ECU off scrapper on E-bay if i can source one. Don't want to get rid unless i have to! Had 3 years & never failed an mot test. Does around 50 mpg around town. Parts are reasonable (GSF or Eurocar Parts) & no one wants to nick em cause only those 'in the know' understand how underated they are!:(

What are you driving now & do you recommend?:

Changed to VW Passat TDI (PD engine) Estate. Lovley car to drive & ecconomical to.:funk:
Needed the hatchback but the newer Toledo only came with a boot, even though it it had the same large space it was not practical enough for me. Also looked at Skoda Octavia but they seem to be like the Seat, once people had them they didnt want to let them go. The only ones on the market seemed to be high milage EX taxis or company cars.

Ok, sorry to jump on the back of this.
I have just purchased a P plate 2.0L Toledo Sport and my central locking is causing me a few small problems.

The windows and the sunroof all close perfectly when i hold the key in the lock position which is good however the passenger front does not move. I have to lean over the lock in from the inside or walk around and lock it from the outside using the key.

Is this a common problem? I know nothing about Toledos as this is the first Seat I have owned and without a haynes manual I do not want to start pulling it to pieces! lol If anyone can offer any help please do!
