Both pipes are currently black as night and im probably gonna spend an hour cleaning this weekend, but just curious what others use to clean it, I was thinking alloy wheel cleaner but anyone else got any tips?

I clean it with a sponge first, then use very fine wire wool and metal polish (like autosol). Buff it off with a rag and it's sparkling like a mirror.

I use a metal polish called autosol on mine and its unbelievable how good it gets the exhaust clean you can buy it cheap off eBay and halfords sell it in tubes it's excellent stuff.

brasso first, then autosol.wire wool will scratch, but if you are not bothered use wet and dry with brasso on it to get it shinning and autosol will protect it then.

Another good tip would be to just keep on top of it :) i try to clean my car every week but at the very least every two weeks (im sad like that) but it does mean that its a nice easy job as the dirt hasnt fully took a hold! if you dont have the time to then a nice sealant should hopefully repel most soot on you exhaust
