Cleaning the soot off the car

On my Ibiza cupra tdi theres loads of black soot spots on the rear bumber and hatch, whats the best way to get these off as washing with hot water wont budge them?

Do you have one of them sponges with a stocking over it?

I have one of them and it works a treat!

I think there is one kicking around in the cupboard, always wondered wtf they were for. Cheers mate il give that a try next time i wash it.

I've got the same problem at the mo. Sponge with a sock on it? Dunno if I've seen such a thing before.

Detainlling clay... you use it with lube and it takes off al the imperfections on your paintwork, and leaves it as smooth as glass

I got mine from ebay for £6.99 all in, and used 10% car shampoo with water mixture as lube

Personally i wouldnt use a clay bar on the soot. You use the clay when all visible surface dirt is cleaned off the car. Youll destroy the clay bar if you do it on a dirty car! Clay gets out the muck that is wedged in the laquer.

Just use hot soapy water with a decent bug/netted sponge or a microfibre sponge works well. Tesco have both on one sponge and its really useful - bargain for only £3.

If need be, clay the car after. Itll take hours but itll be worth it. Should only need doing every few months but make sure you seal it with a good wax afterwards.

I'm a little unsure about this. I have seen what I think you're talking about - a sponge with a mesh over it, but it says "do not use on painted or polished surfaces."
