Control Module Incorrectly Coded

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have just fitted a new ABS pump to a 1997 Toledo 2.0L Sport after originally getting error code 01276 on the ABS pump.

Now getting error code 01044 - Control Module Incorrectly Coded. Anyone know how to clear this code or how to get the controller codes to clear it?

Thanks very much.

Thanks Big Lad, I had previously seen the pages you included, but how do I know what codes to put or I am missing something.

Cheers.

Problem started with the ABS warning light being permanently on. Ran diagnostics and got the following error:

Address 03: ABS Brakes
Controller 3A0 907 379
Component ABS 1TTAE 20 GI V00
Coding: 06406
Shop#:WSC 11111
1 Fault Found:
01276 - ABS Hydraulic Pump (V64)
16-00- Signal Outside Specifications

then checked all the usual suspects eg wiring, sensors, fuses couldn't find anything so replaced the ABS pump. Warning light still on but now get the following error:

Control Module Part Number: 3A0 907 379 D
Component and/or Version: ABS ITTAE 20 GI V00
Software Coding: 03704
Work Shop Code: WSC 00672
1 Fault Found:
01044 - Control Module Incorrectly Coded

If you tried altering the coding, then the question is why it still doesn't have the new value.

The most common problem is that somebody installed the wrong part, which seems to be the case here.

3A0907379D was is not necessarily compatible with your original 3A0907379, so what you need to do is to find the wiring difference (most likely some coding loop) or to get the right one to begin with.

Thanks for your advice. The part numer installed was exactly the same as the one that was removed so cannot understand why it is not being accepted.

OK, I've obviously not realised that the control unit has part numbers as well as the pump (the replacement pump definitely had the same part number as the previous pump). Have been "mucking" around with the part codes today and decided to input 00000 and surprisingly, it has cleared the code, unfortunately, the ABS warning light and the handbrake light are now flashing. I have copied the Autoscan below which shows no error codes being reported. Ani ideas what to try next?

I have exactly the same fault code 01276 - what shall i do?

-use vagcom to find out the part number of both the ABS pump and the controller
-replace with parts of identical numbers?
-if i source some from another car the same as mine, the part numbers may be different, can they be recoded?

I feel this 01276 question has been asked several times, and yes i have read ros' wiki thing but thats not exactly a idiots guide to... yeah thats what i am after, thanks a lot for any help in advance.

Firstly, thanks for all the responses to my posts in the past, they have been really helpful and very much appreciated.
To solve the problem, I ended up swapping the old control module which was already coded and added this to the new pump and thankfully, my ABS is now working (confirmed after several brake tests last night in the rain !!). Diagnostics no longer pick up any fault codes but the ABS warning light is still on, any ideas what I still need to do to get the light off?
