This is new!
Just under the bonnet looking at something unrelated and found coolant all around the header tank but hard to see where its coming from.

It doesnt look like its coming out from the cap as its bone dry in there and doesn't look like it has come out of the overflow.

Oil level ok and crystal clear. Temp gauge normal. No sign of leak around the water pump area, belt, bottom pulley or undertray etc....

Definately localised to the header tank.
Not leaking where the level sensor goes in.

Hard to say where it is coming from to be honest.

Do the seams on the header tanks start to leak?

Bit worrying.

Rich

On the second picture it looks like it's sprayed out if the coolant cap.
Maybe the seal has failed once pressurised?

Just having a cuppa and going to go clean it up and take it round the block. See if i can make sense of it.
Thing is, the threads on the cap and tank are bone dry and no signs of residue on them.

From the spray direction looks like its from the cap or overflow..

I cant tell properly but is that a crack under the overflow outlet?

Found it.
The plastic pipe that the small top hose goes to is fractured and ready to break off.
Got a new header tank coming from TPS tomorrow.
About 25 more miles of driving between now and then.
Fingers crossed it holds.

With thought to keeping the pressure down in the cooling system, would it be an idea to drill a 1mm hole in the top of the tank next to tge edge of the cap?
Or will i just end up spraying the underside of my bonnet pink?

No, it needs to pressurise. The cap has a built in relief valve.
