I connected it back up and it started making some strange scratching noises no idea what it is but it was disconnected in my lcr
if you are sure it was for slow speed fan, then ok, fix it, it will not do harm but its way better to start cooling with slow sleep fan, than wait for higher temp to start hi speed.
First pic looks like the small after run pump which continues to circulate coolant around the car after its switched off. mounted to the back of the rad pack a small cylinder with pipes attached?
Probably worth servicing the forge dv, it looks like it's been on a while.
Just a case of taking it off cleaning it up and checking the spring?
No it'll need new seals. Huge leak potential so deffo service it, or stick an OEM one on there which is fit and forget.
Having just paid for the car (£4750) £700 insurance and 2 new tires on front end plus needing to get timing belt done soon I don't have much money so ill probs leave it for now haha =/
Forge do a service kit which comes with everything you need, from memory it's only about £15. Well worth it in my eyes to prevent/cure a leak.

+1 looks like secondary coolant pump conector to me.
Mine was getting very warm and not working so I disconected it, just ordered a new bosch from ebay 60 quid deliverd from Germany .
Tms and euro car parts were wanting 85?
