Any one know how the courtesy light works when you open the doors? I'm looking for a door switch around the door shut but can't find one.

Yes it does, make sure that the light is in the 'middle' position to do this.

think the switch setup is OFF-DOORS-ON something like that. no idea where the door switch is tho, sorry.

Found the switch and yes it is attached to the door latch inside the door casing. Found out the light comes on when key opens the door and de-activates the central locking, stays on for 30secs. as it should, but light does not come on when door is already unlocked and is opened as normal on either door. I'm now thinking it is the relay that is playing up now to find the relay, any idea off the relay no. and where it is?

Its built into the catch - mine works on drivers door but not passenger door.

Hi, sorry to resurrect this old thread. Just picked up a MK2 Arosa as a learner car for my daughter. Is the courtesy light supposed to work with the passenger door? I've had the lower card off but cannot see any wires connecting to the socket on door catch.

Had a look at the driver's side and can see the wire and plug connected to the socket.

Were Seat really that cheap in not giving a courtesy light for the passenger door?

The passenger door does activate the courtesy light but it is all controlled from the drivers side door position module. The module has some switches inside and is a big job to fix. I've since sold our Arosa and never did fix it, it really was not all the effort to fix.

I'm sure on some models the courtesy light would come on with the passenger door and it may well work in the way you describe.

However looking at the door lock on the passenger side I can see an electrical socket with nothing plugged into it. I rather suspect that it's not supposed to operate the light. It is after all a base model with no central locking, electric windows and so on.
