Cupra - 2014 faulty turbo

Hi all, I am currently in the market for a Cupra, and wondered if anyone can shed some light on the faulty turbos that were present in the 2014 model cars. Is anyone still running the 702 N turbo without issues? I am just wondering if they are all faulty under the 'N' batch, and whether I would be safe to be purchasing a car with this specific one in, as my plans would definitely be to modify the car in the future.

Thanks

my 280 had the N turbo, it ran Stage 2 for 4 years and was fine.

Treat the turbo right.
Good to hear. Did you do anything to it i.e strengthen the internals or balancing? I'm kind of assuming that if a turbo was going to be faulty it would have gone early in the cars life.

Nothing at all, drove the car hard from day 1. literally let oil get upto temp and then used it as designed.

None of this runnign or anything.

Pot luck on the balancing

Mine went two months ago 84k.

Just make sure you have a warranty. Motoreasy were good with me.

Never seen this before, did they honour the cost to get it replaced in full? What are they like with modified cars?

If you modify it then you go with the risk. Obviously the more obvious the mods the higher the risk.

My turbo went pop earlier this week. 2014 280 with Stage 1 (its been running stage 1 for 3 or 4 years?), 44k and always warmed up and cooled down.

My stock 2014 280 is now past 6 years and still the turbo is ok, hope I am not tempting fate here, as only got less than a year now to hopefully get into a new Cupra Leon full petrol motor
