This week I put down a holding deposit on a Mk4.5 CUPRA Leon 300 VZ3 and was disappointed to learn that CUPRA no longer supply a space saver wheel with their cars - at least not with this particular model. CUPRA are also unable to supply one for this car at this current time.

I do have a space saver in our Ateca which runs on 19" alloys as standard, so I'm wondering if I bought another of those it would be suitable - CUPRA are unable/unwilling to confirm this, however. Alternatively, has anyone managed to locate one elsewhere, non OEM?

It's not a deal breaker, but I do prefer to have one, albeit not a full size spare, available to use if needed. The Leon that I've put the deposit on does have a sub woofer in the boot so the wheel well is effectively non-existent, but I'm happy to carry it in a wheel bag in the boot, particularly for longer trips and when abroad.

Pretty sure the space savers are the same and I bought a used one on eBay at a good price from a wheel supplier. I agree with you that having one on a long journey is a good idea.

I've got a 2023 car with a space saver and subwoofer so you should be able to source one and make it fit. But mine is a vz2 one and I think the 300 vz3 has bigger front calipers..

Perhaps the space savers are too small and don't clear the front caliper. Not the end of the world you just have to swap for a back wheel if you got a flat at the front and put the spare on the rear. Probably why Cupra don't include one on that model.

The subwoofer should just lift out and the spare goes under it

This place does new ones and tool kits if you need one. If it has a sub it should already have the threaded bolt to screw to the car. Otherwise you would need to source one

Even Brembo models can have spacesaver. But in case of puncture on the front one has to first put the rear wheel at the front, and then the spacesaver at the rear.
