Daytime running lights - turn on when unlocked?

So I bought my Leon SC SE (with no auto lights) and it said in the book 'Coming Home Lights (Manual)' so stupidly I assumed it would have leaving home lights too.

It's the only thing I am unhappy about with the car - other than that it's perfect!

So I've got the 'Coming Home Lights' working and that's fine. However what I really want is for the daytime running lights to come on for 30s or so when I unlock the doors. If I can open and close the windows from the key then surely I can have the lights come on?

Is there any way possible that I can have them come on when I unlock the doors? It seems such a simple thing, yet it's been missed off! I know you can do it when you have auto lights but I want just the DRLs to come on every single time I unlock the door.

Any ideas??

need the convenience pack for that i believe, as it puts the interior courtesy lights on inside the car as well

Yeah if I had known I would have added that. I take it you can't have it added on after production?

I think they should make it clear that leaving home lights are not included with coming home lights - searching the forum, looks like many people have been fooled by this!

Convenience pack is an absolute must, especially at the price. I believe you can retro fit but it'll involve more money, you'll need a new rear view mirror and some additional cables running around the car.

You can't set them to come on every time even when you have convenience pack.

They'll only come on when the car decides its dark enough. During daylight they still stay off when you unlock the car.

I looked at this retrofit when I had an A3 without this the new mirror and sensor also meant a new windshield with the correct black out - it soon became not worth the trip ! ;o(

Oh really? Doesn't make me feel as bad now haha.

But to be honest, those lights are one of the most recognisable parts of the car - I'm really surprised they didn't include a feature to turn them on each time the car is locked/unlocked! (No matter what the time is)

Why would you need them on in daylight when you unlock the car?

Sometimes when it's dark and you unlock they don't even switch on but if you hit the unlock button again they'll come on.

I don't, but it would be impressive.

Errr, they're called daytime running lights for a reason!

Yep running being the key word. They are for safety when driving so in my opinion not needed when you unlock the car in daylight.

Would be impressive tho I agree.
