Disabling brake lights during AutoHold.

I’ve just taken delivery of a MY20 Xcellence Lux and when using auto hold the brake lights stay on.

I am trying to find a way to disable this as I know personally I hate being stuck behind a car at the traffic lights at night with their brake lights blinding me.

Not sure if the value of “7” in the field below could be changed and solve the issue. The issue is not knowing what to change it too without causing problems.

Saw the thread and thought you had done it :).

I don't think it's in the Brake 1 unit now but I may be wrong. Mine is this:

It could be in the Central Electrical (9). I had a go in 2017 working out what these were, post 14:

https://forums.seatcupra.net/index....f-activity-working-ones-for-the-ateca.438134/

Theory being that the control information is sent to the rear lights and it's told what to do with them but I could be wrong.

In this group (my informed name against list - which could be wrong):

>>
Leuchte 20BR LA71 - Left outer tail
Leuchte 21BR RC8 - Right out tail
Leuchte 22BR MA57 - 3rd Brake Light (centre)
Leuchte 23SL HLC10 - Left Inner Tail
Leuchte 24SL HRA65 - Tail light
Leuchte 25KZL HA59 - License plate light
Leuchte 26NSL LA72 - Rear fog
Leuchte 27NSL RC6 - Rear fog
Leuchte 28RFL LC11 - Reversing Light
Leuchte 29RFL RA64 - Reversing Light
Leuchte 2SL VLB10 - Daytime running lights left (headlights)
<<

Could be somewhere else in the Central Electrics. Needs a month of Sundays. Always troubling when I find my own posts in Googles like I'm the only one at it. Working out the other Adaptations in Central Electronics may reveal it or a suitable Google in German :)

Ateca Feststellbremsleuchte vcds

Could be they just don't want you to do it.

I’m currently hunting through loads of google posts including posts on the Vcds forum.

Found a post where someone was actually complaining about how the brake lights didn’t come on during auto hold and I was hoping someone told him how to change it so I could do the opposite but unfortunately it wasn’t mentioned again

I’ll keep looking but I am not feeling very hopeful at the moment.

That last log is done via a backup within the module and emailing it too yourself. Click the email icon. You could check each line with yours, just in case something is different. You get a txt file emailed back to yourself.

Agree not much on the internet except people noting differences and being tribal. Then they discuss the systems. Ateca packages all of these together. I got park assist as well, that may or may not have a bearing.

One post did say that the address map for it was not provided by VAG ie. They don't provide a method of adjusting it's behaviour.

BTW you are suppose to do a big back up via the home screen. Restore is manual... history menu always shows you what you have.

You'll have better luck long coding TSR in via post 65

https://forums.seatcupra.net/index....vity-working-ones-for-the-ateca.438134/page-4

I can't find anything concrete on the braking light mod - doesn't appear to be one. TJA another tricky one. The German Ateca Forum and Spanish Club Ateca dont appear to cover it. There is material online for non Ateca's but doesn't match what is in Obdeleven. Might be a question of looking further :). Tiguan 2 / Karoq and Kodiaks are the closest. That would be eyeballing their published mods to see what's available.

On your issue of TJA I always trust Ozzies so on their Tiguan's they don't get TJA and have a thread going

https://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/fo...specific-features-au-spec-tiguans-117741.html

Don / DV52 the expert of all things VCDS is on that thread.

We know the solution to TSR so can read over that, TJA and any thing about the parking bright lights. Got to page 7 so far.

If they say they have cracked TJA I can cross check that with my Ateca with TJA to see whether they tally.

Cheers for looking into these. I’m going to try and have another look tomorrow afternoon and I am going to follow your guide for the TSR.

Went to Preston and back today and the ACC did a decent job but I can’t quite help feeling it was braking too severe at times rather than just naturally slowing the car.

Would be nice to have the steering assist in traffic but not a massive thing if it can’t be done.

I would prioritise the auto hold brake light issue before the lane guidance at slow speeds at present.

In my reading so far of that thread to 128

https://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/fo...cific-features-au-spec-tiguans-117741-13.html

They have

Adaptive Lane Guidance
  1. Go into Module A5 Front Sensors Driver Assistance System
  2. Select Coding, and change Point of Intervention to Early (Setting Via Menu)
  3. Click on "Accept", and use 20103 as the security access code.
  4. This enables Adaptive Lane Guidance as a menu option under Driver Assistance - Lane Assist.
Which was off Irish cars but on my UK one. Stops Lane assist weaving. You see it as a separate line on the display. They must have thought Ozzie roads were like Irish ones and the road markings wouldn't make it work.

Ateca isn't suppose to have rain sensors that work to close the windows, probably the full power off after 30 mins or something. That's something you can't do.

Backing up modules is post 166

https://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/fo...cific-features-au-spec-tiguans-117741-17.html

TJA

Read all of that thread now, TJA needs ODIS so isn't something you can do in VCDS / ODBEleven a dealer thing if they would do it - least in Tiguan 2s shipped to Australia. That I'm sure / possibly applies to the Ateca.

That just leaves the break light behaviour... bet that's the same.

Further reading on TJA on the Tiguan:

Sharp: been reading these posts with interest - an excellent community exercise. But your revelation is not good!! It suggests that Hugo's had the firmware in his module updated.

I suspect (fear) that Traffic Jam Assist might be SWAP (SoftWare As Product) - which means that it might need an updated firmware file from VW together with an activation number that specific to the car's VIN.

I HOPE THAT I'M WRONG!!

Don
<<

I did note myself the words SWAP which are the locked down elements of the car.

Post 308

https://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f238/traffic-jam-assist-119112-31.html

>>
Hate to say it but I have come to the conclusion that this is not something we can enable. Comparing the differences in the coding for Module 13 (ACC) between mine and @Hugo_nz plus the Golf MK7.5 with TJA I am 99.9% sure it is to do with Byte 13 (theirs are set to 40 while non-TJA are set to 30). As soon as I change this on mine I get warning up on the AID saying Front Assist not available and a fault is logged stating "Control module incorrectly coded".

Looking at the coding of Byte 13 and the change that is made by going from 30 (Bit 4 & Bit 5 Enabled Only) to 40 (Bit 6 Enabled Only) it changes SWaP_FSID_group_3 from 3 to 4. To me this says that TJA is in fact a Software as Product (SWAP) upgrade and as such only done by VW.
<<

Exchanging their SWAP codes in post 361

Post 628 gets interesting

https://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f238/traffic-jam-assist-119112-63.html

>>
To activate TJA, just upload TJA parameters through VCP, and then follow the steps below with VCDS?

A5 > Coding > Byte 16 > set Bit 2-3 to "08" (EA_Variant2)
03 > Coding > Byte 29 > enable Bit 5
13 > Coding > Byte 04 > enable Bit 2
09 > Login: 31347 > Adaption > Channel "Außenlicht_Blinker-Warnblinken_durch_Fahrerassistenz" > set to "active"

To upload the parameters, just use the Upload function and select the TJA file?

When you perform the procedure, will all settings in module A5 be maintained or reset?
<<

The Ateca (mine) with TJA does indeed have those parameters. You could try them as long as you reset them back if it doesn't work. Although you might be lacking the rest of the software in the unit.

Byte editor on the first three, channel adaption on the last.

Other evidence on this link they say a front assist camera ending with 654... mine does, that's shown as the hardware number. Obviously other cameras may have different number now that would work with it but if yours did end with 654 that would be good.

https://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f235/vcds-obdeleven-enable-traffic-jam-assist-119514-3.html

Then you have this thread:

https://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f24/traffic-jam-assist-activation-service-sydney-120895.html

So VCP / ODIS if the software isn't already in there (more specialist than VCDS).

Then you have this detailed Finnish thread view via translator.

http://www.vagarena.fi/index.php?topic=38517.30

So anyhow my settings in the factory fitted Ateca with TJA I've highlighted the Tiguan 2 coding which tallies with mine pictures attached with the fields marked up. I reckon that's the best one can do without more specialist VAG software. Reset back if it doesn't work. I'm hoping all the security access codes are given else one will need to search around. It will ask for those but if you do TSR first they will go in at least for those. First check to see whether you are set up with these, next to save them. If you have these settings then obviously it's missing the software to make it work.

I'd recommend get TSR working first then experiment with this. As said if it doesn't work toggle back to the original values. Keep clear of the built in resets which messed people up. If you have done a scan you can look at these values off line in Obdeleven without the dongle plugged in - doesn't effect anything. Then if they are different, plug the dongle in and go online to change them. May be if they are the same then it's the missing SWAP protected software, or if changed and they work then you have the software but it just needed the settings... worth a try but I'd cut your teeth on TSR first. Brakes lights back burner.

If you really want TJA and you can't get it to work via the published parameters, you would need to find a Vag retrofitter with the ability and software. That's what they are doing in Ozz. I see talk of remote access with VCP I had heard about in relation to mib2 high navigation updates.

Hmmmm. Back on subject Autohold. Yes mine did work as I said but no longer does. Thought I'd better check with the same assistant deployed three years later. Evident that in the three year period a dealer has updated that aspect !. You have to test it with a second person with the window down to shout what's happening rather than the door open, seat belt on etc etc.

So yeah, I go around dazzling people now. Don't think I'll worry about it thou.

I’ve checked mine and yes, the lights definitely come on. I’m going to have a look tomorrow through the various adaptations and see if I can see anything.

I would be a bit careful. People have messed things up in Brake 1 with some of those test, workshop items. I much prefer somebody to say what a mod does than just try it out.

Basically how it is at the minute the parking brake doesn't come on till the door is open / exit etc then you hear the motor run to pull it on. That's what happened the other day so it's holding it on the brakes even thou you haven't got your foot on it. All that stuff explained on the threads.

Might go back through my 2017 emails to see whether I have my settings from then via a backup in case the dealer did update them. You wouldn't see that in the Obdeleven history file, just your mods I reckon.

Cheers for the reply. Fortunately I wasn’t going to change anything as I would be too scared of messing something up lol.

The only time I would change something would be if I saw it in writing and confirmed to be working, such as heated seat memory which I did the other day.

I am still getting round to the traffic sign recognition that you documented and I am hoping to get the time to do it this afternoon.

Appreciate everything you are doing with regards to all these mods and they have bee really helpful.

The heated seat I didn't do opting to press the button when I needed it. The TSR one is from the Spanish Seat Ateca board and I added the Obdeleven screens. That bus text is important. You see those instructions elsewhere. The micro payment app still seems not to be working reading other boards on that one so "long going" is the way to do it.

After the reboot you then have to find the new screen to turn it on. I added those as an attachment to that post. Pages from the manual. Also read of one person not having their map card in and the unit was squarking at them miss taking kpm for mph. The solution was map card in, unit switched on. The road speeds are read both from the digital map and corrected for any travel signs read. "Dynamic Road Speed".

My brake 1 long code Jan 2017 then twice this last month. Looks identical. So if it did change it changed somewhere else.
