door contact censor....location?

My drivers door on the 1.2 doesnt register that its open after having a wee scoot about i cant see anything that would reseble the door contact switch any idea where this is located? and can it be fixed without a trip to the dealer (car out of warrenty)??? plz some1 out there must know thanx in advance

Think its located in the door lock.
