DSG Questions

Hi All, I'm due to get a Cupra 300 this week but i've never driven a DSG before and have some questions.

1. How long does it take for the auto hold to come on when stuck at traffic lights or sitting in traffic? Is there a certain thing you have to do to get this to activate or does it sense you've been stationary and low RPM for a while and activates it? I'm also guessing the brake has to be constantly applied especially when in D.

2. When the auto hold comes on does this disengage the clutch even if your still in D?

3. How do you get auto hold to disengage ? Does releasing your foot off the brake disengage auto hold and then the car starts to move forward or do you need to apply some pressure to the accelerator ? I've heard there can be some lag from the clutch being disengaged and the car begins to jump forward almost like a stall.

4. When stuck in traffic or at lights do most people tend to keep the car in D instead of changing to N?

Thank you.

1 Autohold applies as soon as you come to a stop & remove your foot from the brake pedal. If a gentle stop then after coming to a stop press a little harder before removing your foot. AH keeps the last applied pressure.
2 Yes
3 No need to keep foot on brake. Pressure on acc releases brakes. Car will Not roll back on a hill.
4 No need to take out of D as neutral auto engaged.

Once auto hold is applied even in D i can release my foot off the brake without the car moving forward until i put pressure on the acc? How do you know auto hold is applied what symbol will there be on the dashboard?

Thank you for replying.

From Seat web-site:
Auto Hold function
The Auto Hold function is an extension of the electric parking brake and offers you more convenience and extra safety. Operated via the ABS/ESC hydraulic unit, it stops your car from rolling away accidentally when standing still or setting off. When you brake your car to a standstill position, Auto Hold retains the last-applied braking pressure. You can take your foot off the brake, and all four-wheel brakes will stay on. If the ABS wheel speed sensors detect any rolling, braking force is automatically increased until the car comes to a standstill again. As soon as you press the accelerator and, in the case of manual gearboxes, release the clutch, Auto Hold reduces the braking pressure.

Seriously?

Also note with autohold applied and your foot off the brake pedal, the brake lights remain on.

I tend to not bother with the auto hold. It has a habit of giving a jolt when moving off again.

Mine doesn't. Haven't switched off Autohold since collecting the car 20 months ago. Mine's DSG is yours DSG or manual?
I have a DSG gearbox. Anything but the gentlest of touches on the accelerator and it lurches forward with a jolt as the brakes are released. I tend to keep it in sport mode for start stop traffic when I might occasionally use the auto hold. It seems to be more forgiving.
