When my car is stationary and idling there is a slight rattly sound but when i press the clutch it disappears.

Im wondering if its my flywheel starting to fail, however i fitted my uprated sachs clutch over the weekend and the noise is only there since fitted. Ive noticed the uprated clutch disc doesnt have dampening springs so im wondering if its just more vibration because of that or my flywheel.

Apart from that all is well, no judder or noises when on the move, just the rattle when idling, any ideas? :headhurt:

I had the same noise when i had a SMF fitted to my cupra. Saying that i dont understand why it should suddenly happen to your flywheel just by changing the clutch. Probably more likely to do with the clutch itself.

Mike :birdy: If its good enough for FERRARI and the likes to use in F1 and as OE, im sure it will be fine for a measly 2.0 tdi A3 ;) Only kiddin mate.
Anyway, i havent had any problems with mine and have done nearly 800 miles on it.

Whats the bedding in mileage for these clutches? ive now done 300 miles and gave it a good test today, i tried every gear and lots of high gear and low revs and could not get it to slip..
Its supposed to be 500 miles, but after i had mine fitted, within about 10 miles i had a high speed run of 145 mph (private road). After about 300 miles, mine felt OE like, the pedal wasn't as heavy and was nice and smooth, rather than on or off. You'll have to really dump the clutch or ride it to make it slip. A clutch will only slip if its been exsposed to temperatures over 400 degrees C constantly and the lining will start to carbonise and the resin holding the driven plate lining will break down and then the whole clutch will go down hill rapidly.

my oem clutch was slipping since new when i first had revo, it had 124k on it when i changed for the uprated one at the weekend, it got lots of heating believe me over those miles and it was still perfect when i took it out except for a little blue colour on the pressure plate.

:roflmao: nicely put mate  .Its because once we do test the clutches, we have do reports on them and make sure we dont give the customer any amuniton to use against us if it went to go to court.

That little blue pattern means it has been over heating regularly. Was the whole pressure plate blue'd or just heat spots on the pressure plate surface? It should have a slight yellow hue to it aswell if it has got the blue pattern on it.
