Well, some of them come back, and its so blatenly obvious that they have fooked it, but we cant say "Oi, u thick twat, you have fooked it on instalation so **** off and sort it yourself" cause then we would be in deep water
Had a word at work today about your problems and symtoms. It deffinately sounds like you DMF is knackered mate. Ideally you should have replaced it when you changed the clutch. If the DMF is worn, then it may be destroying your nice new clutch in the process, so its a sooner, rather than later thing to check out chap. Lets hope it hasn't damaged your new clutch, because they dont have warranty on them im affraid.
can't see why the dmf should have begun doing the noise just after installing the new clutch,,, as mikey says, to me it more prolly something to do with the clutch,,,
Im hoping, well im hoping and saying prayers every night lol, but when it was apart the DMF seemed ok, ive done 500 miles now and it hasnt got worse. The disk hasnt got dampening springs like the OEM disk so im figureing more vibration is transmitted through the gearbox hence the slight rattle
I had my flywheel and clutch replaced aty 35K as got loads of vibrations through the geasr stick especially in higher gears. Turned out to be a lot of play in the central bearing that was the cause
If it's just a bit rattly on idle I expect it is just the lack of damperning springs in the new clutch.
If it judders while accelerating I'd be more concerned.
Work advise that if your car has a DMF and it has done alot of millage i.e over 70-80 k then it would be best to change the whole lot ( DMF. RELEASE BEARING/ CONCENTRIC SLAVE CYLINDER) just on the off chance that something could go wrong with the clutch due to the wear and tear on the other related parts. Its entirely up to yourself at the end of the day. I can only advise that if, your other clutch was slipping on a regular basis then there is a good chance that the DMF could be knackered, due to the exsessive temperatures caused by the slip.
Yes the new clutch that you fitted doesn't have any damping springs on it , and yes it may be more noticable now than before. The DMF is designed to take alot of the vibration from the engine etc, so maybe now it is more noticable due to this, but how much is a DMF? about £350, and if it is knackering the new clutch, chances are your gonna have to fork out at least £500 on a new clutch.
The choice is yours mate.
