Engine components

Can anyone tell me the difference in the 120bhp engine and the 140bhp engine models in the exeos? I’ve got the 120bhp and I’m planning to aim for 200bhp with a remap since I seen it done a few cars over here. The only thing I don’t know is do I need to upgrade anything? Clutch/turbo/injectors etc? Apparently a few fellas have done it with no mods at all apart from a fully gutted exhaust.. but then I heard they don’t map the same because the injectors or the turbo is different ?

I'd suggest you would be better off getting a 170bhp model to start off with!
170 comes with bigger Turbo, 2x side mounted intercoolers instead of 1, maybe injectors, def bigger Brakes (312mm fronts), prob most 170's are 'Sport' models that have lowered suspension as standard from the factory.
seen a few 170s breaking here in Gumtree / facebook (in the north anyway)

Then I would suggest looking at a 143hp model to start with.

200hp from a 120hp engine with a basic map is unrealistic. You’d need at the very least more efficient intercooling, a bigger turbo, and probably injectors.

Simply gutting the DPF, doing an EGR delete and a remap won’t net you 200hp.

again they won’t insure me on a 143 model either because of my points and a previous crash so.. I was told the turbo and injectors were just the same? Most reputable tuners around me are happy to map the car to 185/190

Just going to throw this out there, but if you can;t get insurance on a 143 i assume you're not going to tell them about the re-map to 200, and given your previous crash/points history, what happens if you crash again and they decide your insurance is invalid??

insurance companies over here don’t go into that much effort, they don’t plug into the car or even open the bonnet here..

I have a 120 bhp 2010 and mapped it last year with an economy map and it’s about 170, no hassle with anything so far.

As mentioned above, the 120 bhp has a single intercooler on the left.
Concerns a TDi right?
