Came on earlier, as i was on my home, 100 miles from home, the manual states diagnosis:
"The pilot light will switch on in the event of a breakdown in the engines electrical system. If this occurs go to the nearest SEAT official Service Centre"
And the quick reference guide states
"Engine check / excess pollution"

Now the weather was about 2degrees, and its been cold all day, but i'd drvien 100 miles about 4 hours earlier and no problems.
I also let the car cool down and warm up.

The car runs as normal, no problems at all.
Any idea's?? I aint got Vag Com, but may get it soon because of this!

Hopefully someone will be able to take a look at it on monday.

My Excess pollution light came on yesterday, and i had a choice of two things, find someone with VAG COM to log the fault, or disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes.

I disconnected the battery, and the fault light cleared !

My light came on the other week because I put a tank of normal unleaded in instead of Optimax (i wasn't near a Shell garage)! Back on Optimax again and reset the ECU and its cleared!
