we will see not holding my breath as they changed and checked pretty much everythin else on the motor.

they said the Tarox Golf mk5 they got in with a extremely simular problem to mine had its head removed and sent away for examination came back nowt wrong with it either, banging heads and brick walls springs to mind.

its probably totally different to yours , yours hopefully will turn out to be something silly.

Update 6 weeks now, still not got car back but ha a god chat with Jim yesterday about what he's all ready tried and whats next. So here goes they've swapped out pretty much every sensor on the motor with a donor car to see if it was any of them. that hasn't solved it. He's removed the intake manifold and checked that for faults as it looked to have been removed in the past and not correctly refitted. that hasn't solved the problem. its had the a new in tank fuel pump fitted. nearly solved on that one 50 miles before it did the problem again. so no where at the stage were at. They say the car is a million times better to drive than when they first got when it was juddering pretty much every other minute. So Jim asked me to come and test drive my car now to see if it has improved and if so thank god get my car back!

that leads me onto the bill...........

i think this one is going to hurt!!!!!

its good they are trying things.
if it was in a dealer i would be worrying , i have no faith at all in dealers , my car went in for a service 2 days ago and came out with more faults than it went in with !

hopefully the bill will not be as bad as you think.
keep us updated mate.

Thats not good mate.

Did they end up having the head off and checking the valves to see if they were sticking or not seating properly ?

This is what one of my coilpacks looked likes last time I did the plugs

fc5799ea.jpg

Wasnt quite as bad this time round (10k later) but was still rusty around the bottom.

I seem to remember it being the far left cylinder that was bad last time, I could be wrong. This time it is the far right one.

Will get pictures of my plugs later. Was brown residue around the bottom inside of my coilpacks this time

Cant find my receipt from Awesome GTI for how they charged me a grand. but off the top of my head 10 hrs labour another new set of spark plugs engine injector flush and a few other small things but ye 960.

Cars been a bitch recently and im sure the turbo is gettin flutter dont get me wrong i know theres a certain amount of noise on throttle release but not a up and down as if somethings stuck and bouncing pressure back and forwards and a loss of 'turbo' power as if it was a naturally asperiated engine. Anyway ive just run VagCom on it to see hows shes running and flagged up to 2 engine errors.

cant even find P0236 on ross-tech wiki any one got any ideas?

if i had just spent a grand then scanned my car to find these problems i would be straight back down to them tbh.
i feel for you mate
n249 isnt that the dv ?
just noticed from your post youve had the same faults before?

Started getting a misfire on my tfsi FR.
Diagnosed this morning as the coil pack on cylinder 2, replaced and given a run on the rolling road.
Misfire was still there! they wanted to change the spark plugs at the same time, but as I am on a service contract and they are due to be changed in August I did not want the extra expense!
There were no more fault codes flagging up so hopefully once the plugs are changed this will be cured.

Big smile on my face at RR results though, standard apart from Bluefin
242.2 bhp (the 0.2 is important lol )

I know its a totally different engine completely but I had the same fault on my old 02 plate 2.2 Vauxhall Astra SRI. I stupidly left it thinking it was probably nothing. Big mistake! as not long I had a catastrophic engine failure resulting in me having to fork out 1500 quid for another engine! :-( Turned out that one of the valves had stuck open and the piston smashed into it also totally destroying the spark plug in the cylinder! It was one expensive lesson!! I don't wanna worry you mate, and like I say its a totally different engine so this may be totally irrelevant. But as HotHatchSteve has mentioned, it really is worth checking that they have fully and thoroughly checked the valves!
