fellow cordoba owners i need your help idle issues

hi ive owned my 1.6 vario for over two years now
and on the whole its a great little car
its had a few issues which have been sorted with your help in the past
this time round im getting a strange idle problem
ive got a poor start up which im putting down to the starter motor but the big issue is
when im driving as i change down the gears it starts to hunt for idle going up from normal idle up to somewhere like 3 k and will do this in ever gear and in neutral.
has anyone got and ideas or has had this problem before ?
really bugging me as i love this car and have spent lots of money keeping it on the road and hope this is nothing mayor

haynes manual says vacumm line, throttle body or injection system fault. Have you had the ecu read for recorded fault codes.

No not yet will try and get it done and post up my findings and results/fixes
