FR 180/184 16" wheels

Hello,

I know that Seat CS do not recommend fitting 16" wheels to the FR models that have the larger front disks but I was wondering if anyone has done it?
As long as the rims clear the calipers I cannot see a problem. The Oponeo site comes up with a 16" wheel for this model.

I cannot find new 17" steel wheels on the web and would rather not pay out £100 per wheel for winter alloys if I can avoid it.

I've just bought a 16" steel wheel to use as a spare, and it fits fine on my ST FR.
With a 205/55 tyre it fits ok into the boot, even with the floor in the lower position.

Hi - a few questions

is your FR a 180/184 with the larger front disks?
If yes have you tried it on a front axle?
Where did you buy?
How much?

It is. (tdi 184)
I have. (not a lot of clearance, but turns fine)
mytyres.co.uk (delivered (quite quickly) from Germany)
I paid a total of £102 (including delivery and "single wheel" charge) (you can pay more or less, it depends on the tyre)

Hopefully I'll never have to use it, but it gives me peace of mind when driving on the continent.
