No costs have been mentioned, seat UK agreed I was entitled to it. I don't intend on paying anything given it's new.

Called them today, asked for time scales for the update.

I had voice recognition on my PD, on the CR the button is there but all it does is mute the sound, so it is there its just typical useless SEAT.

I just have bluetooth without the satnav so have voice recognition. SEAT Media System 2 had voice recognition as well due to having the separate bluetooth module I have. 2.1 and 2.2 have in built bluetooth but 2.1 came with out voice recognition????

Does anybody know if the update will take the media system 2.0 up to 2.2?

I think I remember reading somewhere that they changed manufacturer between the media system 2.0 and 2.1/2.2. If this is the case then I would imagine it would be unlikely.

It'd be nice to have postcode support, but the town/street name system works ok I guess (controversial!).

The 2 is an RNS310 and 2.1/2 RNS315 so they have different firmware and you are right a different manufacture.

Maybe the 2.2 system is just the 2.1 updated and they haven't managed to get the 2.2 update working yet thus its come as a 2.1 at the moment.
I would like the full postcode search for my April MY11 FR other than that I'm relatively happy with the functionality of the system.
Love the car to bits :D

I thought I heard my brother say he had updated his 2.0 to 2.1 - I'll check.

Maybe they do use the same firmware then would be interesting as they are different models??

Make sense to have the same operating system.

I started a thread because I thought it might be a little off topic from this thread, but as it turns out it probably isn't...

I just installed the V3 maps on my RNS310 (Media System 2.0) and now have full postcode support! :D I don't know if the 315 uses the same maps as the 310, but the maps I installed were the Tele Atlas FX V3 UK maps.

Have been in touch with SEAT customer care and they are looking into as to why I did not get 2.2 with my FR+...It has been two days now so lets see what happens...

Having had a look around the net, I see there are downloads of v3 maps on certain sites, so I'm sure the full postcode searches will be commonly available soon enough.
It didn't take long for the RNS 510 v7 full postcode search software to get around on the net and I've had it on my Golf for quite some time now. It is so much easier to use than the old software.

I can't believe nobody has asked this yet - lets see some photos of the new LED lights, pretty please.

TBH its only the maps I am after, the benefits of 2.2 over 2.1 dont bother me - voice control, be nice when it is available dont get me wrong just having postcode search would be ideal.

So, hypothetically speaking, if one were to download a folder called RNS310 maps 2011 V3 containing CDR files of Western European countries incl UK, could these be uploaded to a Seat Media System 2.1 (a.k.a. RNS315)?

If so, could they be uploaded from a DVD or would they need to be copied to a SD card?

Would they need to be coded as a disk image, or some other 'fettling'?

Is there any way to back up the existing data just in case?

Hypothetically speaking of course.
