Hi all, took delivery of my new FR TDI last Thursday, and after just over 300 miles the TCS and Tyre Pressure Indicator light stays on...have tried resetting as per the owners manual and it's still illuminating..called seat assist and they sent the AA who had no ideal so it's off for a prematyure visit to it's local dealer..anyone else had the same issue ?? the AA seemed to think it's the sensor for the tyre pressure, though I think it's the brakes as there is a burning smell on the NS..poss a sticky caliper...

Also does the new model have one reversing light or two ?? its only the NS that works, and looking at the OS unit it does not seem to have a bulb in it even ???

Cheers guys and gals

I have had my tire pressure light flash up once but i reset it. Looking in the manual it does say it will come up if driving fast.... Oops.

Hope your car doesn't have a major problem, not seen a tdi fr yet

Mine is on now, but that's because I changed the pressure in one of the wheels and didn't reset it. Have never seen it on before that.

I have reset the pressure indicator with the ignition on and waiting for the beep..as soon as it moved both lights came on...the AA bloke seemed to think it was a sensor on one of the wheels so it is assuming the pressure is to high or too low and therefore turns the traction off for safety reasons.....will post the conclusion as soon as its all sorted ! Pud

We´ll with the Leon if the tyrepressure changes ONLY the tyre pressure ligth will come on.
If the tcs light comes on aswell I´d think it´s an error code. Have you tried turning the TCS on/off?

It might be worth mentioning that the Ibiza doesn't have a 'pressure sensor' as such, but uses the ABS and TCS systems to measure wheel rotation speeds. The Type Pressure warning light comes on if the systems detect a wheel has become 'smaller', thus indicating a loss in pressure.

There is no tyre pressure sensor to go wrong, so the AA man isn't right there (not his fault, he's hardly going to know the workings of every single car!). I believe if both TCS and Tyre lights come on, it's a warning to tell you of an ABS problem.

Best let the dealer sort it.

Cheers....though there is a clear lense on both sides and the one that illuminates is the NS ?

Yeah, if you torn the lights on and pull the knob out. It should click twice if you have front fogs, first click will be those and second will be rear fog. Check it out mate.

getting colected tomorrow...I suspect your right hence the slight burning smell and my gut feeling it could be a dud caliper in that it's sticking so kinda makes sense that the TCS is linked to the ABS...though not quite sure why the ABS light does not come on...why do they have to make everything so complicated !! bring back twin carbs and engines you could change yourself in a day !

Issues now sorted, reset the system and the lights have gone, they have also showed me the reset process in case it happens againg....ref the burning smell, it was the harness going to the brake master cylinder that had become detached and fallen on the exhaust manifold...the mechanic did say the way the factory route the harness is naff...this may be applicable to the FR TDI or 1.6 TDI but is worth a look under your bonnet !!

Just had exact same thing happen to my new FR. The tyre pressure monitor and solid ESP lamps kept coming on together. I could reset both with tyre pressure monitor button only for it to happen again some days later.

Finally, it happened again on a longer journey and when I stopped I noticed a burning smell and my break lights on permanently. The engine warning lamp (glow plug) also started flashing.

AA came out and he immediately knew what it was from the symptoms. The wiring loom for the brake switch had melted onto the exhaust manifold - apparently Seat reckon that's the best bit of the engine to drape wiring across.

Anyway, result is all the plastic melted off the wiring and a blown fuse. AA man has used cable tie to re-secure the wiring and taped them up. Car is booked into the dealer for repair.

It would appear this could be a bit of a design problem.

Check your own cars folks!
