TDI preference
Well I have driven a LCR 225 an Audi S3 225 and owned a TT 225 Quattro and to be honest, as much as I had a lot of fun with all of them, I prefer my TDI FR 06... I know that you can have more fun with a petrol, but the aggressive attitude of the 170 TDI is shocking and can have its advantages.
I have drawn up pros and cons for the Mk1 LCR and the Mk2 FR TDI
1. LCR is quicker to 60, but the FR TDI 2 is only a whisker behind when driven right
2. The FR TDI 2 has better mid range in gear acceleration, however the LCR with the revs high can just match it.
3. The FR TDI 2 returns the lowest of 33-36 when being pushed about, with the potentiol of 52mpg on the run, I won't go into the LCR economy.
4. The TDI maintenance plan is simpler and not that much more expensive, with less moving parts.
5. The LCR MK1 looks meaner, but the FR mk2 looks more modern
6. Cheaper tax and insurance on the FR TDI 2
So hope that helps...
