I think your getting confused with comparitive values, ie NM vs lbft, mph vs Kmh etc

For comparison purposes....

Torque......Chipped LCR's range from 280-320lbft (380-435nm) vs your 290-310lbft (400-420nm)
Power.......270bhp vs your 200bhp
Revrange.....7000rpm LCR Vs 5000rpm TDI

Doesn't take the brains of Albert to work out which is going to perform better

Diesel is for economy, not for performance When they start feeding F1 cars with diesel and making diesel versions of ferraris/lamborghinis/Mclarens, i may change my mind

0-100mph (0-161kmh in your case)

LCR 17secs
Chipped LCR 14secs
Cupra 15.5secs
Chipped Cupra 13secs
Impreza/Evo 300+ 12secs

Cupra TDI 23secs (?)
Chipped Cupra TDI 18secs (?) (Think this is actually a bit generous as 5sec difference is double the difference it makes for the petrol remaps)

Why buy a diesel if your after performance? Most people buy them for MPG figures. Yes there are performance diesels out there, but in comparison to their petrol counterpart, they're a long way off.

good valid point about the torque agains Nm...and i think you are totally right, when i had my stage 2 lcr i raced a guy in an evo8 340 on a private, he shat on me in the straights and obviously around corners... i am not going to say i am the best driver ever but i have been racing since the age of 12 until i was 20, i am now 21 but dont think i have lost my touch to much... basically if your ibiza is capable of beating these cars, I WANT ONE

Yes mate, like i said they do have performance engines, but compare it to say the 8.0 W16 engine that the bugatti veyron uses and your back at square 1.

Its not all about torque..

Honda CTR has 145lbft and can easily keep up with a car that has double this. Still manages to do 0-100mph in 17secs with a 'puny' 145lbft.

BMW M3 another example, 260lbft but will still hold its own against a turbo car with 350lbft

Its all in the rev range you see

The thing is guys,that you make fun of cars that cost 50 - 60 thousand euro.
Everything is about torque and suspention.With the bilstein b16 you can make turns so sharp,it can make your head spin.Almost the same like playing Gran Turismo on PS2.I had to sell my biza and now i am very sorry for that because the more I read for the new Leon the more i get the feeling that it ain't worth it.The thing that I hate about gas cars is that you must always keep them in high rpm.Constantly roaring,they make me nervous i just can't feel calm. While in the biza you have the Nm's at your disposal all the time ,you don't have to push back gears and keep the pedal on the floor all the time,You just push 3'rd give som preassure to th pedal and without roaring and screaming the cars remain like dots on the mirror.
I had MB e 220 and after it I bought a 43 amg.It feels nice on the high way but otherwise 2 tank fills for 500 km,excuse me.
Last week i drove a Leon FR Fsi.To be honest it made me a headache.Roarrr,Roarrr,Roarrr,and it was , like it's in the same position.I got the feeling my Touareg is gaining speed faster than it.I am kind of coonfused.The new cupra looks great but how much better can it be from the Fr which i've driven ???The FR TDi can't match my biza so i don't know what to do.I ve made a decision to sell the Touareg but what am i going to buy after that ?A friend of mine is selling skoda and now he is taking seat as well,so i will get very good offer but i can't make a decision.Looks lik i'll take cupra but i don't know,just don't know
