Hi, not been on here in years since both my cars have been running fine. Until a few weeks ago.

Leon Fr184Tdi on 14 plate has fuel issues. Done 56k.
Diagnosis code is p308d - I've changed the fuel pump and didn't cure it.
I've Identified the pump module is at fault part no. on the car is 5q0906121G.
Question is, can I fit a superceded part ending M without any issues?

Stealers want £216 plus vat for a replacement, so trying to look for alternatives before shelling out.

I can see that the part numbers have been changed a lot over time. My worry is I'll buy one and it wont work with my car.

Any info is much appreciated.

100% yes it will be fine, have just had this issue with mine. All the M means is it's modified. When you get the new part you will see it looks different too.

Yeah looks like they made it with less plastic. Probably to stop the thing from overheating.

Will a different MQB platform model work. Eg. Golf mk7, skoda octavia, Audi A3?
I find loads on ebay for these models, none for Leon's.

They should be okay. The problem I find with eBay is that they tend to focus on compatability for the bigger brands and SEAT tends to get left forgotten.

You can try somewhere like this as they give the OEM part numbers and you can try to double check it against the eBay listings?

Nothing wrong with a modified part - it should be better than the original!

Took the plunge ordered a 5q0906121m from a golf 7. Shows comparability to my car. Just hope it's not a did like mine. Can't believe they fail so much.

The OE number for the fuel pump control unit in my 2014 Seat Leon 184 ST is 3Q0906121B.

Getting the correct part number for YOUR car is important:
The characteristic curve saved in the fuel pump control unit is specific to the vehicle engine and model. During replacement, the imprinted software version (Fig. 1) must be equal to or higher than the installed unit.

Also - The genuine one is usually priced £100+ I would be cautious of getting on off ebay which seems 'cheap'! could be a fake.

Ive bought a 5Q0906121M which is a second hand part fitted to 2016 onwards. it has later software than mine, but think I've read as long a the software is newer, not older it'll be fine.

I can see 3Q0906121B and 5Q0906121N in my catalogue and in the images below:
5Q0906121N seems to be the latest version, but I can't see that it has superseded 3Q0906121B on ALL cars - just 11.2014>

But I can't see 5Q0906121M which looks a little different. Strange.

I can only see it in a none genuine catalogue:

Will be interesting to see photos of whats on your car?

Here's what's on it currently. It get really hot and doesn't seem to be very healthy. Here's an exact copy of what's going on with mine from another YouTube user.

I think I'm having the same problem. Changed the fuel filter and pump. Control module is next. Was your car just turning over and not starting? 2015 2.0 fr 184.

Mine ran but was lumpy and almost like you have some bad fuel or blockage. Anyway the pump module fixed my issue and has ran fine since. Hopefully no more issues *fingers crossed*

I think I'm having this same issue. Is there a trick to removing the fuel pump module? I've been trying to pull it out but it's in such an awkward position and not budging
