Front Parking Sensor problem

Dear all,

Apologies if this is on here already, but I have an issue with the passenger side parking sensor on my 2020 FR Black Edition, basically the sensor has sunk into the hole slightly, so I was wondering, does the bumper need to come off, or can I get away with accessing it behind the wheel arch at all? It's had a new bumper recently due to an accident I had, but before I take it back to the bodyshop I wondered how easy it was to do myself.

Thanks

Your best bet is to take the bumper off to gain proper access and to be able to properly assess why it's happened. The sensors are secured to the bumper with a small plastic bracket that is stuck to the bumper and may have come away. This has happened to mine in the past and simply needed to be stuck back in place with fresh adhesive.

There is a guide here for removing the front bumper if you've never done it before:

Thanks a lot for that, I appreciate it. I could take it back to the bodyshop but sometimes I feel its more hassle than its worth! I did hit a loose manhole cover yesterday so that may of dislodged it.

If it's the inner sensor and the bracket/pad is still stuck to the bumper you may be able to get a finger through the grille just under the sensor and push it back into the clip, you will feel it snap into place, I managed to do this on my 2016 FR.

unfortunately its more towards the outside of the bumper, I'll take off the bumper anyway and make sure its put back on, might add some resin to help it stay put!

Hopefully the factory fit ones will all have the sensor mountings hot glued/welded to the bumper cover. I retro fitted front sensors to my Audi S4 and didn't even consider buying the official VW Group double sided heavy duty sticky bits to mount them, I bought some Araldite Structural Epoxy for use with plastics including the type that bumpers get made from. Unfortunately when I went looking for more to repair some bumper mounting clips it is now not available, so I ordered in some equivalent stuff made by J-B Weld for that type of job. One of my factory fit rear sensors is slightly not mounted perfectly, so I might investigate while one side of the bumper has been released - the other side will not budge so I don't want to damage it!

Thanks all for your comments, I'll wait for the weather to turn decent (one day!) and then have a go at removing the bumper, and sticking the bracket back on.
