Hi Guys,

Thought i got off lightly this year with the MOT pass and service out of the way before winter.

Unfortunately i was driving yesterday and i heard a clunking. Thought it was something moving around in the boot or loose in the glovebox.

Then i pulled over and upon inspection the top coil on my spring was dangling on the middle of the spring. (No modifications have been done, just standard suspension from factory)

Can anyone confirm the part number for a new set of springs and top mounts? (I will be doing the work on both sides as potentially the other side might be at the same wear and better to be safe than sorry)

Any help appreciated.

I believe the spring is 6r0411105aj

Have you moved forward with this at all, typically I'd think that you will get off with buying springs from ECP at a much lower price, same for top mounts and top bearing.
The best make, in my mind, for aftermarket springs is :- https://www.lesjofors-automotive.com/automotive-springs/coil-springs.asp

If you look on their website you should find the correct p/n for your model of Ibiza, GSF used to sell their springs, so maybe ask them or any good motor factor.

yeh I have ordered new mounts and springs on Monday. The car is completely dismantled both sides. Wasn't too bad a job to be honest. Nothing snapped or broke during the process. On axle stands currently and will rebuild once parts arrived. thanks for the recommendation

I found my daughter's late 2009 Ibiza SC seriously easier to work on about 4 years ago when compared with doing that same job on my wife's 2002 Polo when it was only 5 years old, even worse, I sorted that Polo out in January, it was a horrible job, everything was seized, plus miserable weather/temperature. Sorting the Ibiza in May/June and everything coming apart a lot easier was absolute bliss! Buying a "hub splitter" made things a lot easier too.
Now I just have to wait until my wife's 2015 Polo needs this job, I hope it choses Summer time for that!

yeh I was hoping I was done for the year with no more jobs to tackle in bad weather / colder temperatures coming up. Had good practice my brothers scirocco needed both replacing earlier in year and literally everything snapped or was seized think it was 2009 reg. I only did mine before parts arrived encase anything broke so I could order all the parts in one go. Good thing working from home otherwise I would be a bit stuck
