Fuel filling issues

the book says the fuel tank capacity of the mk5 is 45litres. I assume that's from a 'safe' full level to the reserve (which I believe to be about 7 litres).

So in theory if you run it dry, you can get 52 Litres in, but that's assuming you're running on vapours.

I'd recommend against the venting trick -you're probably okay this time of year, but in the summer you run the risk of bowing fuel out of the breather, as others have mentioned.

If you're that worried about carrying enough fuel, buy a jerry-can.

It was more a worry of going for 45 litres easy to clicking at 38 i was worried they was an issue. If this is normal and others as it seems are the same it more than reassures me.

I find it mildly amusing that some folks complain when it cost less to fill up their car..

In contrast my A6 has a 80 litre tank, and one fillup with diesel back when the fuel prices weren't so agreeable cost me over £100.

I like the idea of being able to brim the tank and get change from £50

On occasion i'll pull up to the garage with 10miles left and it will start clicking when ive only put 1 or 2 litres in, the clicking usually stops when the tank is getting fuller
