I just recieved my AutoGauge, looks good. Just need to fit it (pooring down with rain atm). Where do you lot buy your mounting pods from?

Also I have heard alot of people use the Cupra R pod for gauges, has anyone got a pic of this as I cannot find one (yes I have searched).

Cheers,

I received my Autogauge Boost gauge from japan yesterday aswell, it looks good quallity for the money! I would reccomend using a Nomad pilar mate, they make one specificaly for the mk3 cupra, It replaces the pilar on the drivers side door frame. Go on www.nomadracing.co.uk you'l get one for around £75 there plus its in a visable place wheras on the cupra r its not!

The position of the extra gauges in the cupra R is where the catch tray is on the cupra's (in front of the gear stick). Not really an ideal place for an item such as a boost gauge, because would require you to take your eyes off the road to look down at it; whereas if its mounted on th A-pillar you can just glance over an look at it.

The gauges in the cupra R pod are oil temperature (very useful) and voltage.

Think you can order standard cupra R gauge holders from your local seat dealer if you want one.

cupra r gauge panel costs around a tenner after VAT

its not practical for a boost gauge but looks tidy and i ony look at the gauge once or twice per jouney or when something dont feel right

Yes a factory part will look very tidy, just not the most practical place to have a boost gauge. If I didn't have a cupra R, then I would more than likely just buy the panel and have them there.

Where abouts is this grommit, I need to feed the vac hose through to the cabin from engine bay. Is it the round grommit in centre of bay (slightly offset to pass side) and if it is that hole, where abouts does it go through to the cabin?

Do i need to take the plastic cover off around the wipers to get better access?

yeah there should be a rubber grommet in the bulkhead just off to the passenger side. poke it through there if ur going to the centre console panel as it ends up in the passenger footwell

if u get an a piller pod..dont bother going this route

Drivers side, just in front of the ECU under the scuttlepanel. Theres a rubber grommit, it comes out just above the accelerator pedal. You can then thread it up the side of the dash to the base of the a-pillar.

Cheers mate, will have a look tomorrow. Next task will be to remove the headlight switch so I can get to the wiring. Or would it be easier to access the wiring from under the dash where the fuses are?

Remove the headlight switch. When its off press it in quite firmly and turn as if your going to turn the sidelights on. Keeping it in that position, pull the whole unit from the dashboard. It slides out.

Here is the picture of the multiplug.

Is it the one that the bonnet pul cable goes through because that looks like it will be a very tight fit!!

Yep thats the one, make a hole in the grommet with a s/driver and put a dab of silicone sealant on there once your finished.

just go through the same grommet you would use for the centre gauges theres no point making more holes then you need to and if you take of your scattle panel behind the wiper motor is a gromet just use that one and is inside the car if you take all the plastic that covers the pedal box+fuse box you can see the gromet easy as that i could do it in 5min

SO by wiring into the above diagram, the gauge will come on with the dashboard right? I'm gonna do this this afternoon hopefully. Will get some pics up then.
