Morning Seat gurus.

Im doing the shim mod on my gearbox tomorrow. And whilst im there want to do an oil change.
Got a 2004 Cupra R 225hp with 6 speed box.
Anybody know the amount of oil required please?
My data book doesnt cover this model.

Cheers Rich

Thanks for your reply.
I bought 2 litres of TPS's finest but it suddenly dawned on me that it could need more.

Thanks again Rich

Ok, so did the gearbox oil change thismorning.
To be honest, i did this mod on my 2004 pd cupra as there was a wine on over run and it fixed it.

This car that ive only had a month had a different noise. Sounded like slip diff on this one. More of a fine grinding noise.
But thought id try before starting to save for another box.

1st off i drained the oil out. It was old but clean and clear. Then moved onto the shim fit.
Popped the end cap off. Had a poke about and the shim in the box fell out!
The circlip was in place and in tact.
Very strange???
Loads of play in the shaft.

Fitted new shim and refitted the circlip.
Now has some but minimal play.
Fitted new cap and filled it with oil.
Been for a run and its silent now.
Will check for leaks on Monday.
Other than that, i am happy happy happy.

Thanks for your help guys. Its appreciated.

Next week, onto the mysterious coolant leak.. .

Morning.
You have to use a new cap on the end of the box as the one you take out gets damaged.
Make sure the new one is the same size as the one you take out before you start the job.

Dont think i used new washers on the drain and refill bungs.
Another word of warning. The 2 bungs need a tamper proof type socket if memory serves.

Rich

P.S

Shopping list was

Shim/s
Oil
End cap
Silicone (to smear round edge of end cap).
