Well my new roof aerial arrived the other day from one of my suppliers.

Made to be a direct OEM replacement but unlike most of the OEM roof aerials which contain just GPS and phone (such as those fitted to the Golf Mk5 & Scirocco), this one has been made for FM and AM reception.

I didn't want to put a 's*h*a*r*k fin' BMW style on - after all it isn't a BMW !

Made to high OEM standards in Europe and not China, with proper rubber bottom sealing ring and internal roof sealing ring, along with proper OEM VAG connections (a fakra harness was also included by didn't need it), and uses the same 22mm spanner size for the nut underneath.

On tests to and from work using the 'TEST' menu found on the facelift Leon radios which shows signal strength, I have found that there has been NO difference in AM reception and probably only a drop of 5-8 on signal strength on the FM signal.

So pretty happy with the OEM look. I'm going to order another one up and have it painted to see how different it might look painted Candy white, but the rubber lower part can't be painted.

Let me know what you think !

This is on my list to do mate. Looks good.

So are you saying that if I buy the vag oem version with gps (as I have nav) my radio will stop working?

Lee M - there is a proper B sting aerial that has the GPS base built in the bottom of it. However if you want to replace it with this small style one then they don't offer it with AM/FM and GPS built in in this particular style - most are in the ***** fin style rather than the VAG style.

C2 stubby still uses the original base and I'm not sure what the compromise in signal is, I wanted OEM+ looks so thats why I changed it for the Scirocco / Golf style one

Anyone able to do the signal strength test on their facelift Leon radio when they've got the short mast fitted ?

Hi mate. Yeah I already have standard gps/am-fm aerial on my car. Just fancied a slightly different look.
Pretty pointless changing it if I loose radio reception! Thanks for the info.

Cheers. Lee
