Got a rather large problem!

I have an FR 170. The dpf has been removed but it still goes into regen. A very well respected mapper has mapped it over and over to no avail. Usually if it regens I can get rid of it after a day or so but 2 days ago it went into regen and I couldnt shift it.
Now its gone into limp mode but with no engine management light just the dpf light. The original mapper didnt give me my dpf so I cant even go back to standard!
Question is, does anyone near to Surrey have diagnostics that will turn off faults? Can Vag-com reset faults? This happened a while ago before it was re mapped and I paid a guy £50 to turn the fault off but the car wouldnt let him. Bit loathe to spend the cash again if nothing can be done! The dealer knows the DPF is missing so wont touch it :-(
Anyone got any ideas? Its doing my head in now and dont really fancy spending a grand for a new DPF...
This is also a bit of a warning to people thinking of doing the delete. This seems to be a worldwide problem with a few cars

Cheers for any advice

i would contact the guy who rmoved the dpf , after all its your property and i would request it back , if he hasnt got it then it might get a bit sticky.

How about taking it to JBS? Didn't they claim never to have had a de-dpf car go into regen in a recent post somewhere? Perhaps they could sort it out, if what they say is true... probably cost you a bit mind.

I will try this but dont really hold out much hope on that one. It was done a long time ago

Taipan, JBS have not had a car go back into regen in all honesty they are the only known mainstream tuner who can do the delete properly with minimal faults.
You need to watch mate, all these regen's will be f***ing your engine big style!:(

If he had done the "regen" properly then you would NOT have it come up. Your tuner really needs to know about mapping and the DEPTH required to deleve into the s/w to remove ALL DPF Algorithms' - there are only a few how know how to do this.. ................................ good luck

Straight back to the tuner in my eyes and tell them to get it sorted. If they refuse then at least name and shame.
Plus, I'd be asking for the DPF back - a very expensive piece of kit they have there!

Taipan wasnt yours done by the well known Diesel tuner that i asked to try and sort out my stuttering? Company begins with an "O"

AmD Essex were the company who originally did the de-dpf though weren't they? Wasn't Oscarli the second attempt? They both seem to be highly respected tuners, so I think this just goes to underline that removing a DPF is not something to be done lightly, without a lot of thought and research.
Doubly-so if your car is only two or three years old as that means you will probably be in trouble come the new MOT regulations from next summer...

did the original mapper do it any cheaper because they kept the original dpf?

i know we get an exchange credit of a couple hundred when we replace these at work

Yes mate. ALL the tuners have this problem with a real small percentage of cars. Car is now in limp mode and no faults coming up on diagnostics :-( Bleedin weird!!

AMD didnt have a clue. Oscarli do
Yes you are right though be careful if you are thinking about a delete. I know for a fact all the delete tuners have had problems even the ones that say on here they have never had a problem [B)]

Taipan,

I've had the EXACT same issue, I am the 2nd owner of my Leon FR170, the previous owner had the DPF-Deleted and re-mapped by same mapper as yours (second attempt) initial remap was actioned by AMD.
The car was fine until a few weeks later when it went into regen, I spoke to mapper Richard who got rid of it, by flashing the ECU and loading the original map, I then had to drive for 10mins until the DPF light went off. Richard then loaded back his re-map and all was working fine.

Few weeks later the same issue occurred and the above was done repeated. The third time the car went into regen and i couldn't get rid of it, it then went into Limp mode like yours but with the engine management and dpf light lit. I was out of options so I had the dpf pipe re-installed which the previous owner had kept.

The DPF was re-installed by AMD Performance (Ben) who’s done a top job. AMD also found a broken pipe which could have only been spotted by removing dpf pipe (part number on recipet 300131552k pipe £54.63).
As AMD couldn’t confirm if the regen was due to the broken pipe i took no chance and had the DPF re-installed.

Since the re- installed I’ve had no problems with regen (fingers crossed).

Sounds like both mappers don't quite understand the regen code. The people who had the jbs group buy when I got mine done in April all seem happy 15+ of us. Looks like JBS have the higher success rate with this
