Have I had the wrong tyres fitted?

So as a few of you know my 2.0 150 TDI FR is a lease car. Well its done 19,000 miles and already had a rotation of the tyres so it was due some new shoes.

I went to kwik fit (only garage the fleet will let me take it to) and had some new rears (they were down to 1mm, woops!), they wouldn't let me have the fronts done as they still have 4mm left.

I drove away and poped to a garage and filled them with my preferred pressures and all was well.

BUT I have just walked back to the car on a carpark and noticed the new ones are marked 'XL'. I'm not sure if this is just 'Extra Load' as the tyres are marked just underneath the code as Extra Load or they have fitted a different sepc.

Old tyre (fronts):

New Tyre (rears):

What do you guys think?

Yes, stands for Extra load and will be fine :)
XL usually have a stiffer sidewall compared to non XL tyres.

Might feel the bumps a little bit more now though.

If you look a bit closer, you'll see your old tyre was also marked extra load.

The numbers are the bit that counts, so as long as they match, you're all good.

So continental have basically added extra load into the 'code' of the tyre. Thanks for putting my mind at ease and confirming my assumptions.

You appear to have a piece of lego stuck on your valve.

You sir, are a disgrace and an embarrassment to all fellow Leon drivers.

Do the right thing and remove them please.

Woohoo! More slagging off of my car and the choices I make regarding how it looks.

Love this forum, great for factual technical advice and unsolicited strong opinions.

You don't think maybe that you could sense a tone of joking in my post?

By all means get all sensitive and touchy.

Nah, my post was supposed to also be sarcastic. I assumed you might have been continuing a bit of a running joke from my mudflap topic that started the other day :p

The kerbing on them is embarrassing lol

Too bloody right it is. Its one wheel and it is just wrecked and the rest are spotless.

Thats what you get when you let your misses drive your car 2 days after taking delivery. (I can still hear the grinding as she parked it......)

its from all the stones on the gravel roads..................

They may have damaged the wheels but at least no donkeys were harmed during the driving of this car......

I thought it looked good, and I was going to ask whether it was a real valve cap, but you have saved me from being embarrassed too.:worship:
