Alot of talk on Stage 1 and Stage 2 tuning and how they void the engine warranty.
I thought it would be interesting to learn if anyone has ever used the engine warranty that applies for the first 3 years?

If so, on what? Have you any idea of the cost if the warranty should have been voided?

I have tuned my cars in various forms, although never replaced turbos or anything like that, for the past 8 years. I have never once needed any sort of engine warranty work, imo youre safe so long as you take a decent car to a decent tuner and dont be stupid. Anyone that comes on here saying their turning their looking to take their 1.6 to 300bhp, these are the idiots who will have cars go boom. Its also very dependant on how you drive

This is probably the key sentence here. If you're a loon and you drive like one, something's going to give, it'll shorten the life of the components etc.

On a similar note, when I was looking at getting new tyres, a lot of people were not really rating Dunlop tyres, however they're fine for my driving style.

Everyone said that I was going to need a new clutch too after my map, but again, I drive my car to the style and manner which may not warrant a new clutch or for it to wear out so soon. Two years later and it's still working fine.

Horses for courses I guess.

Couldn't agree more. Had my Mk 2 PD140 stage 1 remapped at 60,000 miles. When I sold it at 100,000 miles it was still on the original clutch and had no problems. Always drove the car with respect (no thrashing it off the line) and was still able to enjoy the extra power.
