Hi everyone

I have just purchased a 2005 MK1 LCR - my first car that I have actually wanted, not the usual "it will do" sh:censored:te that I have had before.

A picture might become available if I can figure out how to do it! She is red with black alloys, exterior and interior condition is one of the best I have seen for a car of 10 years.

It has 110k on the clock, so picked up at a good price (it feels) for just over £3k; but when driven it felt tight as a nut. Only 2 owners from new and looks, inside and out, that it has been looked after! (fingers crossed)

New to the forum clearly, so I will probably be flinging dumb questions left right and centre!

First question is; does anyone know of a reliable VAG in Nottingham/Derby area? Would like someone with knowhow to give him/her the once over before enjoying properly; a health check shall we say. (Gender and name to be decided once the christening drive has taken place!!)

Looking forward to joining in, and hopefully learning some stuff on the way.

Cheers

Chilwell, moved here about a year ago :D

I got the motor from stapleford cars actually - small world!

Can you recommend any garages to give the once over? Someone who knows what they are looking at and experienced etc.

also any good drives around this neck of the woods?

So an update on work that has happened since...

Turns out the suspension on the front was nonStock and unbranded, and the compression ratio of the springs were shite and, although the springs were same physical size as the OEM part, the car sat about 30mm lower than expected (AT THE FRONT ONLY). In addition to this, when it was taken apart all the front mountings and ball joints were shot to :censored: so they needed replacing too! Also got the tracking done and toe on each wheel was almost 1.5deg inwards on each one.

All work completed by Rick and his gang as Autotechz, Stapleford - not cheapest but know their stuff, highly recommended.

glad you got it sorted, I need to get my rear dampers done as the squeak when I go over a bump, plus I had a boost leak which I found on the N75 as the jubilee clip was done to tight, I need to find a boost gauge and pipe as I think my gauge has given up the ghost as it doesn't read dead on 0 when its not connected and my pip has collapsed, I'm off in a week so going to find a rolling road and get a print out too. how much did Autotechz charge if you don't mind me asking?

Parts were all standard OEM so not cheap on that front, but hourly rate no more expensive than other garages in the area

Ring and ask for a quote - they usually dont respond there and then, but will reply with an exact costing etc.
