Help with my cupra?

Hello there and sorry if I'm in the wrong place or anything I really don't know what in I'm doing I could just do with some help or advice? I own a Ibiza cupra 60 plate, I brought the car with all mods on it ( remap, intake and a back box delete ) I think that's it... I brought it from a dealer and all was fine after having the car a few months I found when putting my foot down it was triggering an engine management light and sometimes limp mode... IV taken it back to the garage as luckily I had warrant with it theyve changed and put iridium spark plugs in and changed the coil pack still happened so it went back with an oil leak via turbo.. they reconditioned the turbo and then the transmission was playing up... So down the line they have sent it off to a specialist for what ever reason and yet it's still happening and I don't know what I could be? Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance

First off, lovely car, really wish I got my Ibiza in white. Secondly, after dealing with some reliability issues with my car when its stock and only a 1.2 TSI, I cant imagine that a remapped and modded Cupra would not have some issues. When you say transmission, I am assuming you mean DSG Automatic? And as the Cupra is based on the Polo GTI, the DSG is known to fail due to being a bit too weak for the power. I did a lot of research on the DSG's and 1.2-1.4 TSI and Cupra-GTIs, and found for my needs that the 1.2 TSI manual was the most reliable and I have still had a water pump replacement. I know someone whos Polo GTI DSG failed twice within 60,000 miles, so he sold it and its the reason the Cupra and GTI DSG's go for so cheap.

Honestly, I think its the risk you take buying a modded car, and why most people stay clear of mods unless they do it themselves then remove when selling. You are always going to run the risk of putting the engine and transmission under stress, which in turn can cause things to go wrong. My advice would be to see what you can get covered under warranty, get rid of the mods and remap and maybe think about selling it.
Yeah it's a dsg.... They had it back as it was getting clunky... They had said it was " reprogrammed " but it has been alot smoother since... IV mentioned the limo mode problem they said it's the induction kit... They said they'll try making it basically standard and see if that fixes it as its just a univerdal one.... they say it could be as simple as it sucking to much hot air....it's currently a CDA one or something... Or try a induction kit made for the car like the forge one... Thank you for your reply and help!

The induction kit looks like its been insulated to avoid getting too much hot air by accident.

Plugs, maybe do a bit of research on the web, I think that plugs were an issue before the power was raised by moding, so have a look to see what you can on this forum by using the "search" function, which engine is it CAVE or the newer version, also maybe contact SEAT UK or a SEAT dealer to see what repair work has already been done on that engine and gearbox while it was still under SEAT's servicing/repair.

Another thing, maybe join or at least have a look on the Skoda motoring forum, ie briskoda.net in the Fabia MK2 section, lots of info in there from annoyed owners.

I'm sure that lots of us envy you having one of them, but that engine was a gem, but a very very flawed gem and did and still does cost lots of people silly lumps of money to put right when they start to give trouble.

For me personally, I missed a bullet when I almost bought my wife a used Polo GTI with that 1.4 Twincharger engine, like the poster above, I waited and bought her a 1.2TSI 16V 110PS Polo after VW Group had dropped the previous 1.2TSI 8V 105PS engine quickly due to its flaws.

Keep us informed and good luck, but spark plugs can be an issue and need replaced quite frequently, certainly more often that the planned 4 years 40K miles.

Get Seat to map it back to standard and see if that cures the misfires before it goes bang.
