"I CAN easily afford a NEW Cupra R but I chose not to because it IS just a car Beautiful I grant you. But in five years it will be old and out dated where as my boys will have given me something new almost every day"
:banghead:

Think i've just been sick

Just because your children are the only thing you have in your life it doesn't give you the right to come on here and preach to its younger members on how they can afford their cars. FFS your only 32 and think you've been there and done it all
I'm not quite sure what your problem, but there's no need for personal attacks like that just because their opinion is different to yours. If you want to disagree with it then fine, but don't forget that people receive the original posts before you edit them so please think about what you're saying.

There is no personal attack in what i've posted

Removed what I wrote before because I don't think it sounded right and was assuming a lot, oh and it wasn't a personal attack imo.

I'm one of the wicked bar-stewards who wont have kids even at (now) 32 or 42 for that matter. Kids are wonderful, as long as they stay beyond earshot and are 'owned' by someone else. Don't discount the kids vs. car (metal box) argument as a car is basically a tin pot that gets you from A to B, a child is an extension of your relationship.

However, and call me warped, I'd take sports car ownership over having a child anyday. Horses for courses, just a personal choice. I know you can't fathom parental love until you've had your own kids, but the kids I generally see out and about on a daily basis are putting forward a great argument for my sterilisation / passing the option by. I'm not knocking the parents choices on here - its never right to regret having kids. What i do find tough at times is how people with kids can't believe that maybe people of my age / life situation choose not to go down that route.

Ultimately you make your choices, you pays your money. You only live once so don't die with regrets! As long as we're all happy who's anyone to judge anyone else?

I do. We're getting married on May 5th this year. About 4 years we've been together. She prefers cats to kids so I won't end up in a battle of wills. :D

yeah my burmese were 375 each to start with and cost another 400-500 a year in food and fees for the vet, much cheaper than a kiddy

My kids are not the only thing in my life. They live with there mother so when I do see them I make the most of it.

It has taken something as damaging as a broken marrage to make me see what is important in life, something that i hope you will never have to experience.

£50k?!!!! What rubbish. Where do they get these figures from?

Probably had a quick guesstimate round their overpaid office, added up the nanny / au pere fees, pre-prep school fees, eloqution lessons, 3 holidays a year, clothes from baby @ Harvey Nicks , nursey designed & fitted out by Conran etc...

thought it sounded excessive, but then seeing how expensive life is then thought maby its not far from truth (£50k is only 10K a year - £800 per month). When you consider getting your baby room set up, fees, medicines, care, clothing etc... I suppose it could equate to nearly half that????

You can save a lot on baby clothes and equipment by getting second hand stuff. At the rate kids grow out of it, most is like new. We got a very nice pram in mint condition for only £70. New this cost at least £400.
The only thing I refuse to compromise on is the car seat, for obvious reasons.
The main expense is nappies, which are used at a frightening rate, although you could get cloth ones if you want to re-use them.

Hasn't this thread lost its way a little

Can you lot pack it in - My G/F reads these threads and you'll ruin all my hard work directed at convincing her it's too soon to have children and that a turbo charged R32 is what is currently needed...

grand and a bit, but it'll take me ages to pay off as i can't be arsed to pay off anymore than min. but the balance has always been 0% as i keep swapping when the 0% offer runs out, as soon as i sawp i cut the card up as i don't want anymore on the balance!!!!!! it's too tempting to put all sorts on there!!! my biggest problem is i keep putting off sending the cheque and usually only remember about it 10 days or so before it's due!!!....... TBH when it gets paid off i won't do it again as it's just a hastle!!!
