Sounds like your wheel bearing to me. Spin each wheel one at a time by hand and listen for any noise.

The oil could be coming from higher up. VVT gasket maybe

Thanks for the reply, I've checked the wheel bearings twice now, there seems to be no movement if your trying to rock the wheel. The only noise I get is the pad touching the disc. By looks of things this has to be the obvious cause (theoretically) as the gearbox was clean approx 10-15k ago. Subsequently it's got grease all around the drive shaft joint, but the oil isn't coming out at a leaking rate, I.e there's no oil on my driveway, & there are no drops on the gearbox. It's just damp in (what I think is sprayed oil) which comes out the faulty bearing/seal & as the shaft turns the oil spreads. There are no signs of oil when looking down from the engine bay, wouldn't ever suspect this underneath. Thanks again

Can still be the wheel bearing at fault. Most bearing failures I've seen don't have any play but once removed and split apart there's usually a race or ball bearing set that has failed in some way.
