I got a dension ice link plus cheap as it was missing a lead, which i thought would be easy enough to pick up. ive asked dension and they said ask your local dealer, i told them ive been to 2 dealers and they have all said to contact the company direct. grrrr!!

i need the blue/ green iso to dension link lead for a 2001 ibiza. Can anyone point me in the direction of a spare/ replacement parts contact?

thanks

iPod Car Kit Direct say on their website HERE that the VAG 8 pin mini ISO harness has been discontinued. But it also says to call them on 0845 430 3355 for an alternative. I think that would be the cable you are asking for so it may be worth giving them a ring to discuss.

Hope this is of some help.

The Dension support guys are quick to reply to emails, helped me out within 24 hours when I needed to change my config to SEAT.

Failing that I have a blue 8 pin Ice Link Plus that I'm planning on selling soon as I've changed headunits. I'm thinking £40 plus post.

Dension Ice Link on the Mk3 Ibiza Cupra is not worth the money!

Do a search on here, I did a write up about the interface and how its fundamentally flawed.

I'd buy an alternative interface if I was you...and I have the Dension interface installed in my car.

How did you find that mate?! Your a genius!

I've not yet tried it as i'm still at work, but my Dension interface annoys me so much its the first thing i'm gonna do as soon as I get home.

Tbh, I've never tried updating my firmware software. I just had a quick browse through that link and it all seems to make logical sense, i'll let you know how it goes later tonight.

Thanks for posting it!!

Right, I downloaded the firmware and imported it into itunes blah blah.

I just tried connecting it in my car, and playing through the update files, and it said it was updating, but it should only take 5ish minutes, but I left it for 15+mins while I give me windscreen a clean, and it just didn't seem to be doing anything. It was still skipping tracks when I tried to browse thru' the playlist.

BUT...I've just re-read through the pdf's and realised I did it all wrong. It tells you to go to 'genre' and find the 'update' genre and play it through that. So i'll give it a go tomorrow morning.

I'm using an 80gb Ipod Classic. But I sometimes use a 16gb Ipod Touch, so i'll try both.

So what exactly are the faults with your Dension interface?

i just wanna use the ipod UI instead of the ice>link UI but when i try acess that menu it skips past it - like the tracks but with the new firmware, disc 6 will just swap between the 2! :) much better. i cant stand the head unit control of the ipod

but cant get the bloody update to work, cant find anyone else having problems with updates though. driving me mad :( ive tried the way you stated but it just starts playing music

I can only control my music via the headunit buttons. Once the cable is plugged into the ipod, the ipod is of no-use what so ever, well it just displays the track name etc.

Pressing disc 6 on the head unit doesn't do nothing for me, it just pauses for a second and then continus playing the same track/playlist.

You running version 4 of the firmware?

on the mini, using 6 gives you a menu but it jumps past the acess ipod UI part. on the classic the menu doesnt work.

im using v4.13 but trying to install v4.16, in which when you press 6 you get control of the ipod menu and not car which is what i want for playlists etc.

ill see what dension say

There was an option in the config that allows you to change between dock mode and cable mode. I'm sure I chose cable mode as mine was hidden away.

I hope you can get it sorted 2free.

sorted!!

i backed up my ipod to my pc (you will have to go to tools at top of the page, folder options... view, show hidden files and folders) acess it as a removable drive in my computer and copy the ipod folder to your pc.

I then formatted the ipod and put only the update playlist on

stuck it in and updated first time! having no problems with my dension now, all smooth :D

Hahaa you deserve a medal, cus' last night I spent ages trying to get it work. I tried different firmware and everything, still haven't sorted it. The only thing I thought about which I never tried was formatting the ipod/restoring factory settings.

I'll try what you said, but having 65gb of music on my ipod will take forever to format it then re-sync it all.

So I need to back my files up, so the ipod itself is completely empy - so factory settings? Then transfer the firmware software 4.16 to the ipod via itunes, then play the update track as said in the PDF while it's plugged into my car?

I did my update through my old empty iPod photo, went on first time.

The option came up when installing the new config, you can't access it again once its installed.

Thanks, i've sorted it now! Happy days!

It took me a while to work out how it reads the ipod. It's now working as it should other than it still skips every other track when browsing through tracks via the head unit.

But when I now press CD 6, it switches over so its controlled via the ipod, and pressing CD 6 again switches it back to head unit control.

Do either of yours skip tracks?

wicked mate.yeah mine still skips tracks but with ipod controls , i can use ipod controls to skip 1 track or head unit controls to skip 2, as they both work with ipod controls in mine.

much better, specially with videos on classic :)
