Well dricing along there comes a clonk....get to the gym, park up - then about 3 or 4 miles later get a horrible whine/crunch noise from the engine bay.

Car drives okish but it's not a nice sound.

Is this the gearbox bearings?

not the best desciption there mate. Abit more detail wouldnt go a miss. Im not that tech minded at all but id say if it was the gearbox bearings then gear change wouldnt be to healthy either.

yeh sounds normal on idle.

Gearchange is fine - pulling away in first gear it sounds like the whine of a cooper s but not in a good way!

And there is quite a bad vibration!

na na - hte car runs fine - the noises coming from the car are very mechanical - but once rolling the car sounds/goes fine so i don't think it's engine related.

check the mount bolts, check they are all secure and not too worn, sounds like what happened to me just before the mount bolt broke and the CV boot got fecked

Cheers for the replies.

It's the front engine mount thats fallen out somewhere!!!

Easy fix - where is the best place to get one from?

David.

Yeh - only thing is that I've spent £500 on the damn thing recently with new exhaust and mot and couple of other bits.

SO I think i'll just go for a standard part seeing as the full set of uprated mounts is £280....

But cheers - hadn't thought of ECP

report back with prices of standard mounts, looking to do mine in next few month

Ooooo demanding!

Well prices as follows for front mount only, all including VAT:

ECP - £29.57

GSF - £31.14

SEAT - £56

I presuming the ECP/GSF ones are much the same - but is there going to be a noticeable quality difference between those and the SEAT ones. If not I'm going to go for the ECP one...
