Hi guys im looking for some advice. Recently bought a seat Ibiza 1.4 sport, I do like it but its gutless but, was cheap on insurance. Now i have a new job which means more of an income. Problem i now have is im stuck between buyin a Ibiza Cupra or Astra GSi. For me the Astra in harden blue is stunning but the interior lets it down. On the Ibiza its same think it’s a stunning car in red but not a huge fan of inside. They are both the same on insurance for me but need some help.... I know the astra round town will if you potter will do 19MPG MAX where as with the Cupra there’s the TDI which is an option but i need helppppp

Facelift Cupra without a doubt, the facelifts (06+) have much nicer interior I think and with a few touches can look perfect. I personally think the Astras are chavtastic myself, they torque steer and don't stand out too much, plus the Cupras map very nicely too and the Diesels have very good MPG. I've seen some over 300hp on here, obviously have a lot more than just a map though

You should take a test drive to get a better idea :)

Between £5000 and 6 i think i would prefer the Cupra TDi to the 1.8 20v. Only think that buts me off with the Cupra TDi at present to get a decent one with low miles there not cheap.

the old astra 2.0 T doesn't convince me, there aren't many around which sorta says to me they are problematic, I'm guessing it's what they now use in the astra VXR ?

1.8 20V is great, probs realistically see 25-30mpg out of it
I was getting just over 40mpg out of my 1.9 TDi Pd130 remapped

Ok so its sounds like the TDI is a better option. I ideally want it at least 200BHP so was thinkin of a remap and intercooler so wot sort of price shud i be looking at to get this done bit of topic i kno

intercooler are £150 I think, without pipes, pipes are expensive :p
and that's if you fit it yourself

get a panel filter too

then remap should see 200bhp =]

The Cupra already has a fmic. The Cupra tdi can be mapped from standard setup to 200bhp but to get a decent power curve you'll need a filter and exhaust - then you'll need a new clutch

what sort of mileage do you do? no point in saddling yourself with the diesel if you don't do a decent number of miles or if you mostly do shorter trips or city driving

Cupra petrols arnt bad on fuel. Dunno why people think they are. It's a powerful torquey engine in a biscuit tin. Can get 40+ mpg on a run easy. First 1500 miles I had mine average was 35 over them miles. Thetdis are good and mint mpg but they get boring. The petrols are a right laugh!

petrol then :)

it will be cheaper to buy anyway!

not as taxing to drive around town either, the short first gear grows weary

Yeh definitely with them short miles! They are miles cheaper to buy initially aswell so more money in your pocket. Town driving the petrol won't be noticeably worse on the wallet either. Tax will be about double though but meh! I chopped my diesel in for the petrol and havnt looked back, even with mileage I do haha
