Idle speed on ibiza sc 1.6

I have a little problem with my new ibiza sc 1.6. When I start the engine it normally has higher rpm to warm the engine than it drops to normal idle rpm. But sometimes happens that while I stop at the traffic lights the rpm does not drop below 1000rpm. Than if I restart the engine it always goes to normal idle speed(700-800rpm). Any idea what could be wrong or is this normal to happen?

I have the 1.4 and havnt noticed any excess revs at idle it's usually below 1k I'll keep my Eye on it though and see if mine is the same, if not it may be worth a trip to the stealers just to ask them about it and see what they say, as they 'usually' know what's meant to happen

Hi,

I have the same car and have never had the same problem. Once warm idle is always around 750/800 rpm. Sounds like a trip to the dealers and plugging into a diagnostics computer there will sort it. What do you think of the engine? Mpg?

Thanks will pay stealers a visit to hook it up on diagnostic port. Engine is running very smooth, great performance and acceleration and also gas consumption is very satisfying between 29 and 36 mpg(when not driving first kilometers with cold engine because we all know that in winter time they are total petrol eater:p)

Hope they will be able to solve the problem and is not just some random hard to service error...

Just visited seat service and told them about the thing and they hooked it up to vag port. There was some old brake switch error and nothing else. The workshop boss said that this thing should not be happening and suggested to bring the car after new year for detailed analysis to find the problem, so after new year car goes to service. Thanks for your help guys and will write down on forum what comes out of this strange behavior...
