Been thinking about getting my car chipped. Figured it's a good idea to check with Insurance company first. Call went something like this;
Me - How much would my insurance go up if I chose to have the ECU on my car re-mapped.

NU - ECU, what's that?

ME - It's the engine management/control unit

NU - What does that do?

ME - It controls the fuel and electronics in the car.

NU - Does it increase power?

ME - It improves fuel economy, makes the car greener :whistle:, but does increase engine power by +-40Bhp.

NU - So more power.

ME - Yes. How much will it cost me?

NU - (ponders a bit) Would add £64 onto anual premuim.

ME - :-o I'll call you back. :drool:

Lets hope the missus is as understanding. Likely cenario;
:think: :brucelee: :headhurt: followed by weeks of :stick:

Im sorry, but its pretty irresponsible not to declare any modification to your insurance company.

Yes. Shame on you. It's because of people like you that I have to pay £30 extra a year on my insurance !!!

;) :cartman:

I couldn't afford not to tell then. Would have been easier if they just said no. Then I woudn't have to ask the misus.

I have to say mate, at £64 extra a year I would be very happy.
