I can't see how they have gained 18bhp from merely changing the air filter on a stock 2.0 petrol turbo engine. The engine would have to be running badly with filthy filters before hand to get anywhere near that surely?!

I must admit i was thinking that:shrug:

Unless the engine was producing a massive amount of power, therefore 18bhp being a relatively low percentage, not almost 10% as in the dyno results show, I just can't see how it's possible for a well serviced, fully working stock engine?

To be honest I wouldn't even say that much? I'd be more inclined to say 5-7bhp? At most? But.... I'm not a mechanic/tuning specialist.....

I ran my standard Cupra car against another standard Cupra with a Dbilas and Milltek Cat back, and there is next to no difference between them performance wise. You won't get those gains on a standard car and even if you do, there won't be night and day performance difference.

oh okay then. Im tempted to go for the K&N anyway, iv had a lot of K&N's before and theyve always been good and great customer service. Little bit cheaper too. Then ill get it back on the dyno and see what it pushes out. Its getting 260bhp at the moment so a couple of more BHP would be nice :p

I heard panel filters dont offer anything in the sense of performance but might be better for your engine. Not sure which is the best but iv had one panel filter and that was a K&N one which was great, came with a cleaning kit and good help etc.
Sounds like im a sales rep for K&N dosent it? aha

My thinking for air flters for 'performance' cars ie/ the sportier models, they've spent god knows how much on R+D then added a few bits for Euro guff like emissions, so I'd personally just change the panel filter to a free-er flowing one and retain the original air box, but thats just me and I don't have a fast car anymore...

Maybe I'm just jealous.....

A few people on here are running P-flows and seem happy.

Don’t bother with a panel filter, you wont notice any difference and it’s a waste of money imo.

The P flow runs a K and N filter neway , so probably no difference between them.

The pflow has not given me any perforamnce gain , actually worse than the standard air box but the noise is a welcome addition.

Hey Dude, I am running Std airbox / engine cover with carbonio intake.

Std panel filter is evil newspaper-like material.

The Carbonio came with an equally nasty foam one...K&N has to be an improvement on those ?

I woundnt bother unless i was going for a Forge twintake, ITG intake or Evoms intake just my opinion.

Also the carbonio is a COMPLETE waiste of money and so is a panel filter!

Also the "evil newspaper type material" is actually ever so slightly better than a piperx or k&n, ive explained this but nobody ever listens and goes and does it anyway and then finds out the hard way.

Theres plenty of threads out there if you search "intakes" or "filters"

Bang on

My old car (07 Leon Cupra) made 257bhp totally stock on a r/r. With a full Milltek TBE and Carbonio it made 267bhp. The exhaust alone gives around 10bhp, so go figure.
