I bought a 2016 1.4 FR a month ago. It's done 32k. I have noticed that sometimes I get a judder at take off. Clutch is nice and smooth when changing gear but it judders sometimes when taking up drive from a standstill. I've been to the garage and it wouldn't do it, they updated software to see if it helps, but it hasn't. It'll do it mostly when cold but sometimes when hot. What's it most likely to be???

Same on my 2018 1.4 since new. I've instead developed a whole new approach to pulling away - using the engine's anti stall feature to roll the car away just on the clutch, only accelerating afterward. It's a small PITA, but smoother than trying to live with the awful judder.

If recall correctly it's caused by a valve in the clutch slave circuit, designed to prevent slip?

Mine is the same does it when cold for the first two or three pull aways ok after that until next morning.
It has a low clutch bite and the gear change is a bit clonky but goes into gear with no problems

It's annoying and alot more noticeable if you go to do a quick getaway. Today I had the revs up and let the clutch up fairly quick and it was juddering then. It seems as if you have to ease the clutch slowly with no extra revs to avoid the judder

I'll have to try this! It's a known issue with the engine, and is present across the VAG range.
