Hello:) - there is a KN induction kit sitting in the boot of my Cupra R waiting to go on - dealer took it off to have it serviced - should I put it back on - are these kits worthwhile and I take it the car will run fine? - also looking at a dump valve - guys seem to recommend the Forge one - any other kits I could look at?. Cheers guys.

If its an open cone then you will suffer with heat soak, especially in htis weather.

As for the dump valve i went for the Forge too, to be honest i didnt feel much or any difference. It will however last longer than your original oem one. Its a shame i didnt chip my car before putting on the dum valve, perhaps i would have noticed more of a difference.

What honda did you have btw? ( just looking at your name :))

Cheers mate - I have a Civic Type R - not 220 bhp though! - has an ABP Magnex and Quikshift induction - as for the dumpvalve - they have one fitted already? - must be very quiet then ;) - can you get cold air induction kits for the Cupras then or are there any other brands which I could look at?. Cheers.

PS - Like your DC5 you had previously - was looking at these myself but really wanted to get away from jap machinery and try something else for a while.

Civic Type R are normally aspirated. A dump valve is only fittted to a turbo car to release the pressure build up when changing gears.

Your turbo will spool up with slightly more urgency using a Forge unit or any piston unit compared to the Bosch OEM part. I noticed this on both my Cupra and Cupra R..... Once going you won't know the difference but it will last the cars lifetime.

If you by another ricirculating DV like the Forge or say a Bailey DV then you don;t get much extra sound, so why buy one you may ask?
- The Bosch OEM unit is prone to failure
- On a remapped engine the repsonse is far better
- The Forge comes with a lifetime guarantee (yes your life time)
- They are cheap at £85 ish

If you want the Whooshy sounds associated with an atmospheric DV then there are two solutions.

1) Fit an atmospheric dump valve, although your car isn;t designed to run with one and may initially run 'Rich' then run 'Lean':headhurt: . Some people are trying an HKS version with 'good' results.......but not guaranteed search for HKS and read the whole thread and understand what you are buying into

2) Not strictly an atmospheric dump valve sound but by an induction kit. What does this get you?
- The induction sound (air being forced in)
- More sound of the turbo Spooling up
- When you lift off the echo of the DV with a Pscchhht type sound.
- Some under bonnet 'bling' to impress your mates.

Search on BMC CDA, Dynatwist, RamAir etc for induction kits

If the oe dumpvalve was to fail then, would it affect the running of the car? - how would I know, as there is very little noise? - would it be a wise move to upgrade to Forge anyway?.

Sorry for all the questions guys:rolleyes: - I`m a total newbie when talking about VW/Seats specially turbos - all I`ve driven in the past really have been Honda Vtecs.

Your car will develop a massive hesitation, much like old skool turbo lag (put yer foot down, nothing happens for 1or 2 seconds (seems like forever)) then evetually the car accelerates.

If you are getting a remap I would recommend one but it's your car
