LCR brakes onto LC

Struggling to find definitive information on this from searching so thought Id ask the question:

I'm thinking of fitting LCR brakes (definitely fronts and probably rears too) to my 2004 LC (non-R) with standard 17" wheels - going for the stealth look:D

Can anyone confirm that the calipers will go straight on the LC hubs? Front discs are both 312mm I believe but are LCR ones are thicker?

On the rears I notice the plates (not sure what the correct term is  ) behind the discs are only just larger than the current discs, so I assume these need swapping also when the rears are swapped?

Also do the standard LC hoses connect up to the LCR calipers? - mind you I may well go for some goodridge jobbies.

Finally can I keep the standard (5 spoke) 17" wheels if I fit appopriate spacers (and if so what size?) or am I forced to start looking for some new wheels?

You need brackets to fit the brembos to LC hubs. You will need spacers to help your wheels clear them.

The rear discs are the same size, it's just that LCR rears are ventilated. There's not a lot of point in uprating the rear discs - uprated pads are the way forward.

Dont think LCR brakes fit with 17" wheels. They are too big.

Yup! There aren't many 17" alloys that safely clear the Brembo's without a massive amount of spacers.

The brakes themselves aren't a problem... Bill @ Badger5 does a conversion kit I believe that contains all you need to get them fitted to your car. But the wheels will be a problem, for sure.

So on a standard LCR are adapter brackets used by SEAT to fit the Brembo's or do they have different hubs with the appropriate mounts built in? I'm hoping to get the calipers 2nd hand and am wondering what I need off the donor car (obviously don't want to swap hubs!).

My understanding is that LC rear discs are 232mm and LCR's are 256mm as well as being ventilated so presumably there IS some advantage in fitting the rears too?

Also having just looked on e-bay it would appear that LCR's had 305mm front discs before 2002 and 323mm discs after 2002 - can anyone confirm this?

BTW I've just thought of something else - does an LCR have a larger master cylinder (to cope with the increased fluid volume in the Brembo's) and would I need to fit one of those too?

brembo actually sell the discs and calipers as a kit. i think its called the GT kit and i think it retails for about £750! that includes discs, calipers and brackets. i'm at work at the moment but when i get home i'll see if i can find a link to where i saw them.

fitted lcr brembos to mine using the kit from badger 5. master cylinder on the lc is fine with brembos. i went for 18"x7.5" alloys... didnt like the idea of spaces.

badger 5 kit gives you the discs, calipers, lines pads and brackets.

Correct me if I'm wrong (often am!) but I thought the GT was an aftermarket kit for many applications (with adapters to suit), but NOT exactly the same calipers as on the LCR as standard.

Was hoping to keep the cost of doing this down (there's someone selling nearly new LCR discs and calipers on e-bay at the moment - just wondered if I needed adapters or the LCR hubs to fit to mine) if LCRs have adapters as standard then presumably I can get these from a SEAT dealer?

If I need to spend £750 ish on a kit then Awesome GTi do a Neuspeed kit (Porsche/Brembo calipers) or a Tarox 6-pot kit for £795. Would probably prefer either of these to the GT's as I'm not a great fan of red calipers TBH - unless I can get them cheap! I'm guessing also that the Tarox's may be less fussy about wheel clearance?

the neuspeed & tarox kits are only 312mm and i think awesome's prices are plus VAT. i think the calipers in the brembo GT are the same as the LCR.

Which is why ebay is never used for getting info, just an occasional bargain!
When was the last time you seen a pre 2002 LCR?

Yep, they were the ones I was watching, says he has the rears too. Was hoping not to draw attention to it as the price will go u:blink:

Reckon they're the best bet if I can get them for a reasonable price. As my tyres are fooked anyway, upgrading to 18"s is only the cost of the wheels really (saw some Bellini Bellas in hyper Black which would look nice on my platinum cupra - apparently they fit the cupra R). Then its "just" adapters I'd need.

I have this kit on my LC and its fooking awsome but it costs 1000 quid not 750 unless ( i hope ) see pic in avatar stick the ferado ds 2500's on em and WOW!
And if you check out the TT shop web site they say they fit behind 17"s.
