lock set

broke my key and did not have a spare, i have another lock set including ignition barrel, my question is? do i need the matching ecu to the keys? if so is it the engine ecu or a seperate control module?
any help appreciated

why not just go to your local seat garage, order a new key on the win number, and let them match/code it to your cars immobilizer.

By "lock set" do you mean ignition, drivers door, passenger door and tailgate? If not you'll end up with two keys, one to get in the doors and another to start the car.

The key will contain an immobiliser transponder that is matched to the immobiliser control unit in the car it came from, and cannot be recoded. (well, not by mortals: experts like Actionman can do it though). You will need to get a new, blank immobiliser transponder to replace the one in the key and then adapt that transponder to your immobiliser control unit. VCDS can do that with a new transponder.
