Lowering ideas?

hey people..new to the site and also to the leon scene. bought myself a black 1.9 tdi with cupra r kit. 2003 with fsh and mechanically sound. few little bits and pieces id like to tidy like...

-broken mudguard
-fog light needs replaced
-worn gearknob and gater
-new back box

car has been lowered by 60mil all round on springs. as soon as i saw the car it was the first thing i wanted to change. want to install coilovers/springs but unsure what to go for. looking for a comfy ride with nice look to it but not on the floor. a little lower at the front ideally for a nice stance. have around a £200 budget for this.

anyone with a tdi that has any pictures of 30/40 spring set up or 40/50 set up? please share.

You won't get a comfy ride with coilovers you will get quite the opposite your best off with springs

Thank you for your post.

For within your budget the best option will be something like the JOM or Prosport coilover kits.

Changing just the springs alone and using them on standard shocks is never going to give the best ride, even compared to a budget coilover kit.

Well I have pro sport coils on mine and think there alright or you could try fk's as for JOM there cheap and nasty

The Prosport and JOM kits are in fact pretty much the same kit and use a lot of the same parts.

I have eibach lowering springs, 40mm but on original shocks. Shall I just get new Oem shocks all around or do I need aftermarket set for comfort?

Pretty much identical in terms of ride.

It would be best to get aftermarket dampers with a shortened piston to match the lowering springs if you wanted to just change the dampers.

What kind of dampers should I look at? Budget isn't massive as want to refresh bushes but not with Powerflex...too stiff apparently

You mentioned Eibach 40mm springs but Eibach don't offer a 40mm kit so I'm guessing it's the 30mm Pro springs? If you can confirm the springs, vehicle details and your budget I can get some options for you.

Fair one must be 30mm then. 54 Lcr budget around £250

Need money spare to also change bushes all around

For within your budget the only option we have for aftermarket dampers would be the AP -

Front damper - £76 inc. VAT each
Rear damper - £60 inc. VAT each

Sorry for the silly questions but what are they like for comfort? Or is it the springs that effect ride?

It's a mixture of both really but the AP dampers are a good option in terms of ride quality for everyday fast road use.

Right Damian mate sorry to be a pain but think after some advice I'm gonna go with just springs mate as only 68000 so current Oem shocks should be ok...

Any ideas on which springs with about a 50mm drop and ok for comfort...

You won't get a 50mm drop from just springs on the Cupra R model, we have the H&R 20mm springs that will give you a further 20mm drop or the ST by KW 50mm/40mm springs that will give you a further 30mm/20mm drop -

Just would like to know what are the vogtland lowering springs like over the likes of eibach and h&r for build quality,ride quality etc they would be for a mk2 seat Leon fr cheers for the help
